Re: Head Gasket and Carb job
I took the carbs back off, and cleaned them like a madman. Put 'em back on the bike, and then I realized what was wrong. The idle adjustment knob was backed all the way out and wasn't making contact with the throttle arm anymore. Strange, I had never messed with it before. Anyway, it's running great...

Re: Head Gasket and Carb job
Well she's all back together and after a 5 miles run down the road she runs pretty good. No leaks so far, but we'll see.
Now it won't idle unless the choke knob is used to maintain idle. I don't have carb syncro gauges, so I guess that's next on the list, and to learn how to adjust these carbs.

Head Gasket and Carb job
After not riding at all last year I decided it was time to go ahead and fix this oil leak from the head. The carbs were also leaking gas from the brass T fittings. To replace those O-rings, I was going to have to split the carbs. It didn't turn out as scary as I thought it'd be. Probably because I o...

Re: 1980 Carb gas leak
This is the piece. Looks like it's got 2 o-rings on it. They probably dried out on me.
I guess I'll have to find a carb rebuild kit.

1980 Carb gas leak
Yeah, I haven't been here in a long time. Started taking the bike apart to fix an oil leak and just never got around to finishing it. Tonight I put the bike back together to ride for a bit before the weather turns really cold, and found the carbs have a gas leak. I'm pretty sure it's the brass tube ...

Re: motercycling class
I remember when I took the motorcycle driving test a few years ago. I didn't take any special class or anything, went to the Abate test site on a Saturday morning and took the test on my CB650. There was a ton of people there. Almost everybody passed, if you did something wrong, they let you do it a...

Wanted- 1980 Tank in Black
If anyone comes across a perfect, black w/ gold pinstripe tank for a 1980 CB650 I'd be interested.
Accidentally knocked it onto the floor and put a dent in it. It was perfect other than that, and it made me pretty upset.

Re: Longest trip on a CB650
I'm trying to get into the Life Sciences Course (crash investigation). I'm full time Aircrew Flight Equipment at the Air Guard here in Fort Wayne. In June I'm going to Night Vision Instructor Course at Randolph AFB, but I won't be riding the bike to that.

Re: Longest trip on a CB650
I can't remember the dates I requested. I haven't heard anything back yet either. I was requesting a week-long school there at Shepherd AFB. If I do end up down there I'll be sure to let you know.

Re: Longest trip on a CB650
That would be cool, but I rarely get that far south for anything. Maybe if I like long distance riding southern Indiana wouldn't be too bad.

Re: Longest trip on a CB650
In June I'm going to San Antonio, and I may be going to Wichita Falls in May, I'm not sure yet. I live in Fort Wayne Indiana. Google maps says it's exactly 1,000 miles from my house to Wichita Falls, and 1,285 to San Antonio. I don't see why the bike wouldn't be fine, only thing is a leaky head gask...
