Re: Question about tank
Your tank looks amazing! I went with bondo, I did 3 light layers now I'm painting it with a metallic speck red, I'm not sure if I should leave the tank at that or paint my bike's name on the side or what.. but I wanted to steer away from the stock emblems for a more custom look to it

Question about tank
1500856645204.jpg Hey guys I have a question, are there and tanks that are easily interchanged with the cb650c tank? Mine is missing its emblems.. I took it off because I want to paint it but the old marks will still be there.. is there any suggestions you guys have to cover those emblem marks up o...

Re: The All Too Common Bogging Down
Thanks for the responses guys, the charging system seems good, however I haven't tested it, what is the best way to? I think I recall the guy I bought it from saying it still has stock jets, with straight free flow through the exhausts could it be needing larger ones? Also, it does have an exhaust l...

Re: The All Too Common Bogging Down
I forgot to mention, my bike back fires (very slightly) at idle, and even more so at the high rpms in deceleration

The All Too Common Bogging Down
Hello everyone, I have a 1981 cb650c with ~ 36,000 miles on it.. The pipes were changed from stock to 4-2 straight pipes, no baffles..I am running it without the airbox cover (I've tried with, too, same result) with a k&n air filter.. The bike starts fine, and idles great.. however, in all gears...

Re: confused about drain plug
Thank you guys, I pulled it and a bunch of stuff drained so that's good! This is my first motorcycle ever and in learning little by little.. the person I bought the bike from was the type of person to not take care of his stuff and I could tell he beat the bike (but it was a good deal) I plan to wai...

Re: 1981 cb650c running lean
So, remember when you said I shouldn't be running lean with the stock air filter and box? Turns out I don't have an air filter  the previous owner must've taken it out, and I have literally no idea why.. So now my question is, is there a housing I need to buy for it? Right now, there's just th...

Re: 1981 cb650c running lean
I'm thinking you must be talking about the chrome cover (on the right side of the bike) I don't have those covers, previous owner must have removed them, that could be my problem right there! Any way to test if this is the reason? Also my fuel line looks kinda awful, along with the fuel filter, I'm ...

Re: 1981 cb650c running lean
So when you said in your other post to remove the air filter cover, which exactly is that? Not the chrome covers on the side correct? Again, sorry, not mechanically inclined but trying to learn!

Re: 1981 cb650c running lean
Well I think it could be too lean because my pipes are getting blue after the bike heats up, and the whole thing where it sputters almost seems like it's getting gas, uses it, and then runs out. Would you suggest I try it with the filter cover off? Or would that make it even more lean and maybe caus...

Re: 1981 cb650c running lean
UPDATE: I forgot to mention, it does leak a little oil (I was told from the oil pan) and I was wrong, it doesn't sputter at 4k, but at 6k.. At 6,000 rpm I start to get a little popping, and chopping of the throttle, and then at 7,500 it cuts in and out and will NOT pass 7,500 (almost like a rev-limi...

1981 cb650c running lean
Hello everyone, I just got my 1981 honda cb650c, I am not very mechanically inclined, so I apologize in advance.. The bike is straight piped with a baffle-less exhaust, and it is running lean. Everything else is stock. I think what I have to do is (attempt) to re-jet the carbs to get a better air/fu...
