Re: Digital speedometer RPM install

Thanks, yes it works great! Nice having something updated. Now to find some 82 carbs :) Why do you need 82 carbs? weren't there any with the bike when you got it? No it has carbs with it, VB44A's. The bike came with a 4-1 exhaust and pods. Previous owner dyno jetted it I believe. Has adjustable nee...

Re: Digital speedometer RPM install

Thanks mate, I figured it out. The speedo has two settings for single cylinders and multi (2-4) cylinders. I was able to tap into the yellow (+) coil wire and it works great. Thanks!

Digital speedometer RPM install

Hey all, been some time! I recently picked up another 1981 CB! I am installing a new digital speedometer. The RPM/Tacho section states to "Connect RPM wire to one of the trigger wires positive pole." Do you think If I ran the RPM signal wire from the speedo down to the pulse area and attac...

Signal Relay

Hey guys, seeing if some of you may have some ideas. I am installing new signals on the 82 Hawk and have hit a snag. I bought a new electronic flasher relay to accommodate the LED signals. There are 3 wires I am seeing, a green/white, green and gray. When I bought the bike it had no signals and the ...

Re: Antigravity Battery Question

Contact this guy. I built a CX500 a few months ago and did an antigravity 8 cell battery. It HAD to have the rectifier upgraded. It also had an older shindengen one but it would over charge a Li battery. Really easy to wire in but does cost a good amount of money. I'd contact him and see if his are ...

Re: 82 SC CV carb jetting

UPDATE: I went with the stock 35 pilots, 116 dynojets and 3 washers (1.5mm) total under the needle. Idle/mid is now killer. Higher rpm's are lagging. The only kicker is my fuel/air screws are pretty much maxed out which means either up the main (I have a 122 dynojet) or adding washers to give more g...

82 SC CV carb jetting

Do you all think a 45 pilot is too rich for pods and 4-2 exhaust? I am right at about sea level. My other option is the stock 35 pilot that came when I picked up the bike. Figuring out mains too. I have left over Dynojet 116's, stock 118's and I think some 115's. On JetsRus they have a conversion ch...

Re: Blade Fuse Upgrade

All good, haven't had time to get to it yet. Will be this week. I have 4 in-line mini ATC fuses that I plan on running. It is not an actual junction box or anything, just stand alone fuses in their holders. I will be branching 4 smaller lines off the thicker power wire running to each fuse with prop...

Just did mine yesterday. Took me a bit to get the old seal out but it popped out eventually! Lubed up the new seal and in it went!

Re: Blade Fuse Upgrade

Ok makes sense..I guess that would not be a ground as that would not make sense for the circuit! So did you just branch off 4 small wires and connectors off that main HOT wire to the corresponding fuses unless I can try and find a 4-1 wire connector..Thanks guys for any/all info!

Blade Fuse Upgrade

Hey all, Ive been searching for a bit but haven't found a definitive answer. I am replacing all the glass type fuses to blade style. I see that all the fuses have their own power in, but then they all connect to one "black" wire which I assume is ground. I have inline ATC style fuses that ...

I'd pop off the tap and take it apart if possible and blow some compressed air through it. If anything, switch over to the manual style.

Rocker Cover Install

Hey guys, just wanted to confirm before I go bending valves....Are you loosening all of the rocker arms on the head before installing it onto the cylinder? I tried to install it last night but stopped immediately once I realized it shouldn't be this difficult to install. There was a lot of tension o...
