Re: CB650 Spark Splug Problem PLZ HELP

Good news, I was able to seperate the slide from the arm and needle and there was no washer but only a circular horsehoe washer attached to the needle and no grooves to adjust the needle height (non adjustable). The bad news, I destroyed that big philips screw so i need to go get the another metric...

Re: CB650 Spark Splug Problem PLZ HELP

Hi WT, I can't really tell from that picture if there's a washer in there or not, but if there is then it shouldn't be. If your other three needles look ok then that one dented / chipped needle isn't gonna cause your other 3 plugs to foul up. I had one needle that had been damaged and filed sort of ...

Re: CB650 Custom Side Panel Badges Wanted

Hi Michael, unfortunately the 82 Nighthawk had its own unique style of side panels and they are usually listed with silly prices and extortionate postage prices to the UK.

Re: Bogging when cold

Hi Kat, the issue that is bothering you also bothered the PO, that is why he taped up half of the inlet, to enrich the mixture so the bike would start easier and pull away quicker. To me it would just make more sense to use the choke for a bit longer. If it bothers you that much put the tape back bu...

Re: CB650 Spark Splug Problem PLZ HELP

Hi WT, that metal hoop in pic 1 is just a vent pipe guide, the vent pipes between 1&2 and 3&4 carbs should point up and pass through the hoops towards the back of the engine. I have no idea what that plastic T piece has been used for but it has been added by a PO. Pic2, I don't know what you...

Re: CB650 Spark Splug Problem PLZ HELP

The amount of fuel in the float bowl has no effect on how lean or rich that cylinder runs. The engine can only take in as much fuel as is allowed by the jets and settings on that carb. It's like how the amount of fuel in the fuel tank has no effect on how the engine runs (except of course when the ...

Re: Carb clean; accel pump

The clearance between the pump rod and adjusting arm with the throttle closed should be between 0.4 - 0.6mm (0.015 - 0.023 in) Adjust by bending the adjusting arm. Please remind me what type of carbs you have so that I can try to find the pump rod length, please don't cut anything until you know the...

Re: CB650 Spark Splug Problem PLZ HELP

When you use the clear tube it is best to hold the tube against the float bowl and do one carb at a time, the vid was just to give you the basic idea. Have a sharpie marker at the ready, hold clear tube against float bowl with one hand, undo drain screw with the other, wait for fuel level to settle ...

Thanks Michael, if you happen to find any 82 SOHC Nighthawk panels laying around then let me know.

Hi johnny, if you compare the parts in these two links it appears that they are not interchangeable.

Re: Carb clean; accel pump

Michael, be sure to check the length of the shaft before you fit it, I would not cut it the same as the one you already have as that one looks like it has been cut way too short.

That shaft looks a bit short unless it is the angle of the picture.
