Re: Advice on shady mechanic situation

Yeah, this will be the last time I take it anywhere. In another forum someone told me how cheap and easy it is to replace valves, basically how close I was to fixing it (if it even needed fixing).

Advice on shady mechanic situation

https://imgur.com/a/CLi8BNU I last was trying to resolve some clacking noise by readjusting my valve clearances a couple months ago then suddenly lost compression in cylinder #1. Afraid I'd screw things up more I decided to take it to a shop. To save me some money and get a closer look myself took o...

Re: Mech quit on me.

So I dropped my head off with my general mechanic/ machine shop guy and right away after explaining how or was fine til I did my valve clearance adjustments he's sure I over tightened the #1 one causing the no compression there but i don't know I'm convinced as I triple checked my adjustments that l...

Re: Mech quit on me.

What do you think for an engine with 7k miles? And for a valve to cause zero compression would it be more obvious? I felt a slight slight raise, maybe I imagined it, on exhaust #1.

Re: Mech quit on me.

Yeah, even when you get them running right, they just need CONSTANT maintenance. Why didn't you guys tell me this before!? You just saw me walk in all doe eyed blissful about my new used first bike ever and didn't want to ruin it for me. Plus it's much more fun to watch me figure it out in my own l...

Help removing cylinder head pls

https://youtu.be/Is_9Svvcg_Q So I think I just need a trick or something I don't know about. I got the bolts out and the whole cylinder block wants out. The head is entirely separated except for the locating dowels it looks like. Is there something to pry up in there safely? And I don't want to do o...

Mech quit on me.

They mostly do Harleys so he's not confident, gave me other excuses but that's basically it. A bit ago I somehow ended up with zero compression in #1 after adjusting my valve clearances so I must have bent a valve or something. All I know is that it was running great on all four except for a little ...

Re: So would you use this to transport your 650?

That's pretty cool! I wonder if the winch is removable, and that's why the mount looks like it does. I actually have a winch that came from a camper that I rebuilt (and did not need the winch). The bed of my trailer is pretty high and my motorcycle is very heavy (Harley Electra Glide). I should rig...

Re: So would you use this to transport your 650?

I'm always somewhat hesitant to use anything from Harbor Freight that will potentially take something important with it when it breaks. :( I had a Harbor Freight wheel chock on my trailer. It gave way one day as I was coming to a stop and let my CB900C roll forward and fall over. Fortunately, it on...

So would you use this to transport your 650?

https://m.harborfreight.com/automotive-motorcycle/trailer-hitch/400-lb-receiver-mount-motorcycle-carrier-62837.html It's got a 400 lb cap and I think the bike is like 460lb right? Anyway I've read a lot of people exceeding weight capacities as if there's usually a bit of room beyond the max weight. ...

Re: Just went in to adjust valves for some 'clack'n and now #1 pipe cool and idles horribly

I haven't done anything so far. No time atm but I'm wondering how this could have happened. Remember that before I went in to redo the clearances it was running great then upon opening it up I find the clearances were too much at least on #1 and another or two cylinders. Adjusted then torqued to spe...
