Re: choke springback

The choke cable adjusts at the handle, turn the plastic nut to desired resistance.

Re: 1st gear only

I am at an impasse on the gears.
Are the transmission forks broken? blocked somehow? Can I put heat on the shaft to try and loosen something?
Any suggestions?
If it comes to opening the case, it may end up in a dusky shed or the chopping block.

Re: 1st gear only

I''m still digging around but haven't found anything that appears broken.
Need to find an illustration of how the parts go together, how it works gear to gear..

choke springback

Is my choke cable supposed to spring back open on its own?
Won't stay choked unless I hold on.
And won't stay running unless choked.

Bright side: after 9 years in a dank shed, she does run!

Key tumbler

key1.jpg Had some trouble with the worn key only working properly in the fuel cap. Had a key made from the code on under side of fuel cap, guaranteed to work "as long as the mechanism functions properly". I took a chance and $20 worth of factory specs key later, no luck. After several min...

Re: Vacuum routing

Removed the fuel shutoff valve and it works well, got it started and rough idle. Is there anything I need to do with the remaining lines that ran in and out of the valve? Three nipples on top, one on bottom? :?:

Put the seat and side panels from my 550 spares on to get an idea how it might look.
Going to focus on getting it purring like a lion first.

This site is an incredible resource, thank you :!: Picked this beauty up from a family member who had it in a garage for several years. The carbs went to a pro and the tank was de-rusted (by myself) revealing about a half-dozen pin hole leaks. I had the tank (it looked fantastic but...) blasted to b...

Re: Vacuum routing

Great, thank you. :!: I thought this might be the fuel starvation problem. Other posts suggest filling the bowls, which I drained and thought would fill on their own by stroking the throttle. I had the carbs worked over by a professional and using a clean tank, it should be ready to run. How do I ma...

Re: Vacuum routing

I must mean the fuel shutoff. The line that attaches to the nipple shown is what I need help with.
My compliments to the very shiny set of carbs.
