Re: Stator issues/replacement

Thanks George. I watched and read elsewhere about using the rear axle, but didn't really want to remove and replace all that. I'm going to try to borrow a better puller from my dad (owns a shop) today. If that doesn't work out, I may have to breakdown and pull the rear axle. Wish I could figure out ...

Re: Stator issues/replacement

I should have clarified; I was able to get the bolt out with a breaker bar, but I can't get the rotor pulled. I've been trying a cheap gear puller, but it just gets so tight that it bows the arms and eventually pops off.

Re: Stator issues/replacement

Ended up actually cutting and drilling the screws out, but got the old stator out so that I could get to my brushes. New stator in the new cover ready to go as soon as I can get this old rotor wrestled off.

Re: Where to chop exhaust?

Thinking of just removing the baffles and keeping the pipes on it. They've kinda grown on me... Like a fungus

Shorter cables and brake line

So after putting the drag bars on my bike, I didn't exactly take into consideration the throttle cables, clutch cable, and brake line being too long. I bought new throttle cables (needed them even before the new bars), but they're stock length. I've looked into shortening them myself but am not 100%...

Re: Stator issues/replacement

Thanks man. I don't mind damaging it anymore at this point. I'll just replace it with a torx head or something a little more sturdy. I'll update when I get back to work on it this afternoon (bedtime for you  )

Re: Stator issues/replacement

Thanks for the ideas. George, I'll try that this afternoon/evening when I get home. If I can't get anything accomplished, I'll just order a new case off eBay. Shouldn't be too much longer before it's on the road.

Re: Stator issues/replacement

So I finally got around to using my extractor kit. Still can't get any screws out. Is there a trick to this?? I don't want to have to buy a new cover and everything just because I couldn't get three screws out. I'm tempted to just bust the stator up so I can get some vice grips in there. Don't neces...

Re: Where to chop exhaust?

Oh ok, I misunderstood. I thought you meant just the gasket bolt holes were different.

Re: Where to chop exhaust?

Gotcha. So I'm probably better off just rejetting for the straight pipes and v stacks. If that doesn't work out I may look into a head and CV swap.

Re: Stator issues/replacement

Well I stripped one of the stator screws. Gonna try a stripped screw removal kit or helicoil.

Re: Stator issues/replacement

I'll try it with the new ones when I get them. The PO said that he had tested them and they were no good. Considering that, then seeing the condition they were in, I didn't bother testing and just decided to order new ones. One problem I'm dealing with now is getting the screws out that hold the sta...

Re: Stator issues/replacement

So I should order the regulator? I mean, the bike runs and everything works, just doesn't keep the battery charged.
