Idle Mixture settings

I have read all the articles on the subject, but still don't understand which way the needle goes in or out to correct a lean or rich idle mixture. Couldn't find a flow chart of the carb. to explain this mixture. Will some one smarter Than I, please tell me is ( in rich or lean )?

Re: RPM ISSUES UPDATE

Installed the paper engine air filter and took the bike out for a ride. The engine ran great and performance was prefect. The K & N filter will not work in this bike for some reason. Air flow to the engine was my problem, problem solved. Thanks for all the comments and suggestions.

Re: RPM ISSUES UPDATE

Yes the bike runs fine now without the K & N filter. I have a paper filter on order and will install it when received. The engine was running way rich at rpm above 4700 rpm and I noted that my miles to gallon has increased quite a bit. Hope the filter was my problem and we will see when I instal...

RPM ISSUES UPDATE

As I posted a couple of weeks ago, I was having rpm issues with my 81 CB650C. Any RPM over 4700 the engine would start to miss and cutout until the rpm is reduced. Any rpm below that the engine operated find, at idle or hard acceleration up to 4700 rpm. Thanks to the members who suggested area of pr...

Re: RPM ISSUES

Check your timing advance weights under the points cover. If they're sticking, it won't advance your timing. It's an easy check. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk I just checked my timing advance weights as you suggested and they were free and not binding. I lubricated them and checked timing again ...

Re: RPM ISSUES

What flatlander said, my money is on your timing advance weights as well. They seem prone to rust so you should take them out, strip them then clean them up and lubricate them. My advice is to take pictures before doing it so that you put them back together correctly. I just checked my timing advan...

Re: RPM ISSUES

Never thought about that, I should be able to check the advance timing weight movement by checking the timing at the higher rpm. I think I read about doing that in the manual I only checked timing at idle. Thanks guy for the information, I'll post what I find.

RPM ISSUES

I purchased a 1981 CB650C with the engine top end disassembled. I rebuilt the engine top end by refacing the valves, installing new piston rings and gaskets as required. All other parts were inspected and found to be in good shape, 16,000 total miles at the time. Engine runs great, but has a RPM pro...

CB 650C Gas Tank

On my new purchase of a 1981 CB650C for rebuild, I soon learned that I will need a replacement tank. Any one with a clean tank out there got one?
