Re: My '79 cb650 62mm overbore project.

I've been debating whether or not to put my 62mm pistons in the stock motor under my bench, or use the one with the worked over head that has the 61mm overbore in it already. Decided the flow benched head should be paired with the overbore, so I'm tearing into a known recently running motor in hopes...

Re: Engine displacement vs stated CC's ???

The cb650 displaces 627cc. The 750 displaces 726cc....

And I'm going with the 696. Comes to the displacement plus the 23 head cc's(noticed I said 24 earlier..oops)

Re: My piston sets and fixtures.

Yes I am a machinist. Trained in '98/'99 been in the trade ever since. Lots of repair shops, manual machines, and vtl lathes. I'm CNC functional.... more a fat finger at the console programmer than a mastercam user. (mastercam writes the program for you once you draw the part in 3-d in mastercam) I ...

My '79 cb650 62mm overbore project.

Here's a pic of my bike, looks sad though. http://i350.photobucket.com/albums/q429/Purplechickenweasel/IMG_20181001_184819_zps8wwvtsja.jpg As it sits, it's running nice. Is is running '85 600cc ninja carbs, 61mm pistons and sadly a 550 stock cam with a slotted cam gear. Yes the thank looks ratty, ha...

Engine displacement vs stated CC's ???

Hello all, So the cb650 is bore x stroke is actually 627cc, with head chamber of (?) 24cc. Making roughly 650 when added together. If a motor were bored out, and one wanted to put cb"XXX" on the side covers, should the head 24cc's be added as well? I'm doing a 62mm overbore soon, and don't...

Re: Hello all

Yes it's a stock 550 cam using a 5 degree slotted cam gear.
I would have changed it long ago, but if I tear into this motor I know there is at least 1 almost stripped out thread in the head, and have been putting off helicoiling the holes.(thread repair insert)

Nice '79 there. First red one I've seen, not bad.
Noticed the carbs are not stock.
Are those off a cb750?
