Ibsen is on the eternal ride…
I received word from Bigjims that Ibsen passed away from a heart attack on Dec19, 2007. I have not checked in the board much since selling my 650 in the summer, but need to post this. He will be greatly missed. I learned a lot from Ibsen, and my bike would not have run as well as it did without his ...

it happened quickly
Well, it happened quickly. My former neighbor who rides an ’81 KZ440 noticed I was trying to sell my ‘99 Drifter. He asked how the CB650 was running, so we looked at it in the garage. I told him what I had done with it and what needed to be done. He took the bike for a ride and liked it, of course. ...

Hue, Any handbar with 3/4 inch diameter tube will work, so yes, the cb500 will work. The light will be fine too. Most any motorcycle light will work as long as it doesn't pull too many more amps than the original. I don't think there will be a problem with the instruments either, but I'd certainly c...

Ethanol as fuel?
Might as well start a new thread. I'm not convinced ethanol is a solution to anything. What are the total costs for a liter of ethanol compared to gasoline? How about the farming costs (i.e. fertilizer, machinery, fuel for said machinery) and distillation costs (i.e. heat to cause the evaporation of...

Hmmm, this sounds for me so complicated and difficult.... here's what I'm doing, even when its cold (like 3-5 celsius) Push bike out of the unheated barn to the road. Get on it, start rolling (no enigne, I live in the mountains) After 3 kms, pull on the choke, open fuel, turn ignition key, put 3rd ...

morning starting procedure...
I’ve been using the 650 to commute when not ride sharing. It’s interesting because I have not fixed (i.e. rigged) my choke cable yet. Yes, it has been almost 1 year. But I thought I would share my starting sequence with you, perhaps some of you can empathize. 1. Turn on gas and engine run switch 2. ...
