Use a beer can
Last fall a buddy said he might have a right side 2 in to 1 replacement exhaust for me. Well, winter turned to spring (kind of) and he was wrong. So another local friend said he has a 2 into 2 and a 2 into 1 for me to look at. I'll know later this week. In the mean time I asked an auto repair buddy ...

Re: Dunlop or not to Dunlop
And... how important is it to "match" the front and rear tires for better control and tire mileage? The tire on the front is an older style than the Dura on the back.

Dunlop or not to Dunlop
In the past I've seen several discussions on CB650 rider's preference for a particular model Dunlop tire. I'm in need of replacing the Duro 12.0/90-17 rear tire on my '80 CB650. I like the profile, ride and control of this inexpensive tire but it's only lasted a couple years and under 6,000 miles. I...

Re: Other than OEM exhaust question
I saw some discussion on the MAC slip on mufflers. Any further input on them as far as success with them? Part numbers for an 80CB650? Thanks.

Other than OEM exhaust question
The right side muffler finally gave out on my so a replacement is needed. If I don't go with a NOS or "used but nice" replacement for it and the left side; what are your recommendations for new pipes. I only need the pipes aft of the joint below the brake lever or shifter lever.

Re: No More Oil Leak, Re-torque?
The only reason I noticed the difference is because since I've owned the bike it has been consistent regarding the rpm matching mph in 4th gear. Have about 150 miles on since the work. No oil on my pants. I was going to give her a good cleaning but haven't gotten around to it yet. Another biker frie...

No More Oil Leak, Re-torque?
Over the winter I had planned to replace the head gasket and seals on the CB. Well, the best laid plans... Dropped the bike with a local shop along with all the parts I collected. Picked her up yesterday. No more oil leaks (so far). Picked up about 3MPH against RPM's in 4th gear. Before the repair I...

Re: Which lube to use?
Didn't find any Spectro locally so I picked up some "Pro Honda" High Performance chain lube. I'll see how that does. It was only $6 for the can.

Which lube to use?
Every couple years I change my chain. I don't buy the expensive o-ring chain. I've been using "Chain Wax" from local Honda shop. I lube every couple times I ride, per instructions. It appears there's substantial build up on the chain. Because it's kind of thick I'm not sure it really penet...

Fat fingers
When I changed plugs on my '80 CB650 last year I was able to start the thread on the two inside cylinders by hand. My fingers must have gotten fat over winter so I had to pull the seat and shift the tank back so I could use my newly purchased 18mm spark plug socket to help the plugs find the holes. ...

Another great military suruplus buy
Found a local military surplus retailer with lots of ESS brand goggles. They're the current military goggles and are great. He had a pallet of their "Profile" series goggles. They all came with clear and smoke lenses. Had to pick through some to find "brand new" with no scratches...

I made a mistake
My Goldwing buddy came over yesterday. So I took if for a ride around the block (big block, about 10 miles). Haven't been on a big bike in a while and that was a mistake. Talk about smooth!!! Sure makes one think about a Wing. (wife said "Don't get any ideas!") He just had a "car"...

Re: LED Turn Signals NOT Blinking
MEHall has it right. Not enough resistance from LED's. Went through this a couple years ago and stayed with regular lights in the turn signals. I did go with LED's in the brake light. I also added an extra "fast flash" LED bar below my license plate holder for added "hey, I'm stopping...

Re: Check front brakes
Will do. Good week to do it. It cooled off a bit. It only squeeks when I muscle it backwards to park it or roll slow out of the garage. It doesn't make a sound for normal stopping.
