Re: '82 cb650sc project

Interesting hook solution.
The center of gravity of the engine seems to match fine for the proper angle.

Exactly.
Be careful with the small O-Rings on the short tubes between the carbs. Very annoying to find a leak there.

Re: Hello from a new member. 1979 Cb650 with a couple of issues.

I see that you have the 79 carbs with the air cutoffs. Problems with them may match your issues so have a close look for cracks. Basically the diaphragms are even not required, most later carbs have the circular covers but nothing beneath. But in this case the holes are not drilled, too, so you cann...

Re: Another 83 cb650sc back on the road

Your bike is still in good shape!
I would not try weight loads on that back rack because of riding behavior.
Lots of cockpit gimmicks. :)

Re: Crazy fuel leak

Welcome here! :D I do not think that the air intake boot itself should leak fuel as it basically should be air tight. If it leaks fuel there this would also mean you would have an air leak. Some ideas what to check: Occasional or strange behaving fuel leaks are known from the "vaccum tee's"...

Re: Valve Cover Gasket

... the anaerobic Permatex lost adhesion to the case i believe due to me spraying compressed air down that hole during the build last week, there was crud or gunk or sand in the hole from vapor honing process way at the bottom of that longest bolt hole i couldn't get out so i used compressed air to...

Re: Valve Cover Gasket

Sorry to read about the oil leak. At least everything is still clean. I would reuse all gaskets in this case. BTW, if it were not for the cotter bolt issue, one could split the engine case without removing the top. Strange position for an oil leak. Probably not simply "sealant failure". Ch...

Re: Valve Cover Gasket

You have a very impressive collection of pictures with lots of details.
Almost every part can be found. And everything is that shiny.
I can imagine that this was really a lot of work. I used to restrict intensive cleaning to the really important surfaces.

Good luck for the cotter bold issue.

Re: Valve Cover Gasket

What caught my eyes first is that everything is very, very clean. 8) I have some more specific comments, too: For replacing the head cover bolts by others it is important to have the correct length. Some bolts are expected to carry copper washers. If you have harder washer material it might not beco...

Re: Dual Disc Brake 3-way Joint/Bridge

I did not have the original handlebars so I got some wires and placed them as dummy for trying out. It is important to turn the handlebars full way in both directions to see if it is still fine then. It is also worth to check out on which side the brake lines should pass the installed gas and clutch...

Re: 1981 CB650C

Good to hear about your progress. As you said fine tuning of carbs at this temperatures does not make much sense. When you come back to the idle screws in spring, have a look here: http://www.hondacb650.com/viewtopic.php?f=4&t=11695 Kind of complicated procedure but the reactions look promising....

Re: Taillight but no Brake light

This is quite exactly what I had in mind with regard to the surprises you do not want to detect during trying fixing electric issues on the road. I think that this main fuse box looks as it does as a consequence of some other electric issue that was not fixed for a quite long time. Now I would check...
