Re: 1982 Cb650 Carb Swap

Sorry, those pics I stole from cycle exchange's website. I'm running non-cv carbs on my bike. As for reving high without load, I'd guess that it might be running rich. Kinda like you've got the choke on. One way to check is to pull a plug and see how it looks. Spark plug check And have you cleaned i...

Re: 1982 Cb650 Carb Swap

My 79 has mechanical carbs. Start looking in that direction. The problem is most likely your filter. It's too open, and not allowing enough suction for the diagrams to work. My guess. You could try to build a shield around the filter with a small gap. Cycle exchange has half-round shields on their p...

Re: Help! Fuel Tank question

That is the filter and it's garbage. There should be two screens in there. One at the top for when the petcock is in the On position and the lower screen is for the reserve tank. While not necessary to run your bike, you won't know when you have low fuel in the tank as well you'll have to use an inl...

check fork diameter and width between the forks, those will be your two factors to watch. Are you replacing the whole front end or just the forks?

Re: Newly aquired 1979 CB 650 project

I've used that exact kit earlier this year, it doesn't come with the oil pump rings, you'll need to get those. It did come with everything else for the engine though. The fit isn't as great as I hoped on the valve covers. Rubber was smaller and not as flexible but it did worked with a little stretch...

Re: CANNOT AT ALL GET CARBS OFF

It's a month late, here's how I do it. Loosen the all the clamp bolts, often it's better to just remove the clamps. Move the airbox back out of the way. Put a ratchet strap around it to hold it out of the way. I put a space heater level to the carbs on high heat, take the tank off, and drape a cloth...
