Re: Stator and Rotor

I'm in the same boat. I found a rebuilt rotor on Ebay, someone local gave me a regulator as the old one's harness was melted to the burned out stator's wiring harness.

Now I can't find a stator anywhere. I hate to have to scrap the bike for a minor part.

Making progress, Charging woes.

The saga of my 650 continues. After following Volker and Ibsen's advice we finally had our 650 running well. For a short time. the bike was driving us crazy. It came with a new battery and starts easily. After it warmed up, it ran like crap and we could not understand why. The answer is the charging...

Thanks Volker! I pulled the #4 plug, he must of dropped it, the gap was closed. I opened the gap to match the #1 plug then swapped them. Plug that was in #4 must be damaged, because now it works, but much cooler than the other three. The old #1 plug now in four, is running fine. So not a carb issue....

Thanks for the reply. The last owner installed new plugs. I'll pull #4 and look at it to get a better idea of whats going on. I'll also try swapping the plug with another and see what happens. I've also wondered is any fuel is making it to that carb. The lines are very brittle and falling apart. I'v...

Carb Issue?

I finally adjusted my valves, thanks Guys! The motor is still a little noisy, but that may be normal. It seems to run smoother. Now we noticed that the #4 exhaust is not getting hot. We checked it for spark and it's fine. So I think it is a carb issue. Do I need to remove all four carbs to clean tha...

Thanks Guys! I'll try it this weekend. My engine looks slightly different than the one shown in the those pictures, but I'm sure it will work fine. My Nephew wants to rush in and modify the bike. My experience with old cars tells me different. I want to get it running right (adjust engine, bleed bra...

New Owner - Valve adjustment?

My Nephew and I just bought a 1980CBc with 15,xxx miles on it. It runs a little rough but has been sitting. The issue we have is that the engine is VERY noisy. Someone told us it needs a valve adjustment. Where can I find directions on doing this and is there something else I should watch for? Thank...
