Clutch rattle is fairly common on CBs. It will sound like a handful of large gravel crunching around inside the clutch when the bike is in neutral or when the clutch is pulled in, and goes away (or nearly so) when the bike is in gear. And it gets much worse when the carbs are out of sync or you have...

I wish I could have something similar to yours, Ibsen... Yours is sleek and fits the bike. Mine kind of flares up like the feathers on a chicken's head. But I just can't stand the 80s style square headlights (kinda like when Jeeps started putting square headlights on their vehicles... What were they...

New '82 CB650 pics
I finally got around to taking some pics of the bike now that it has the cafe fairing on it... I think it looks pretty snazzy! I also took off the original headlight mount with the turn signals (which I never used anyway except for as running lights... I'll pick up some LEDs for that later) and put ...

New plug wires
I was reading on the SOHC forums that it may be worthwhile to change out your spark plug wires to get a boost in performance... My wires/caps are pretty dirty and look to be original. And I don't think the plugs are producing a blue spark anymore. I'm thinking putting new wires on certainly can't hu...

Volker is right, although I can see how it's easy to get them mixed up... The only difference I can see is the Z model has the tail light molded into the seat, and it has dual front disc brakes and rearset pegs. Here's Ibsen's sweet ride: http://www.sohc4.us/gallery/d/5810-2/DSCN2171.JPG http://www....

Aye, we also had a heat wave of sorts here in Tennessee (southeast USA). Got up to 75 degrees F, and my brother in law bought himself an '81 BMW R1000, so we took our bikes out riding. I could barely keep up with him ;) I never knew my bike could corner like that! Corners I would normally take at ar...

Yup, that's normal. There are little arrows (or a capitol letter, depending on the year) that point in the correct direction which the retainer cap is supposed to be installed. I believe the gap is supposed to be facing the rear of the bike, but that's going off memory (which everyone knows the memo...
