Re: 80 CB650 for sale

She is sold! Feels good and bad all at once. It love how is revved happy, and was nimble and responsive. More happy, though, with the KLR650 for my style of riding. I still have the rear rack and sissy bar, that's for you cb650, and I still have the black tank from the standard 650 that turned into ...

Re: 80 CB650 for sale

So I took the rack off again and cleaned up the slow circuit, pulling slow jets. Put it back together and fired right up. But it still won't idle without choke. Drops one of the cylinders at idle. Rode it around and it still has great power and is smooth as silk off idle. I put it back up on Craigsl...

Re: Dirt bike to enduro?

You'll have to look up specific laws in Florida, each state may be different. Though I have seems 4stroke off road only bikes converted to be street legal. There are kits for popular bikes that this is done to. You'll generally need a rear running red light, brake light switched on my both front and...

Re: 80 CB650 for sale

I don't want to part it out. I'd like to see it go to someone with more time on there hands then I do. It is a custom with stander end pipes. I still have the custom pipes, but they have been worked on by someone in the past that didn't do a good job of repairing the issue. Bad hole clamp to hold ev...

80 CB650 for sale

Fixing it up to run perfectly has got me ripping my hair out. So I'm just putting up a feeler thread to see if parting it out would be worth the trouble. Early spring 2013 I put new piston rings in honed cylinders, along with new valve seals. Has about 43,000 miles on the motor, ~7000 of which are p...

Re: Timing not quite right...

So I checked the cam visually by pulling the cam cover. It's lined up as per the manual. Yet the advancer needs full counterclockwise rotation to run at all. But now it doesn't run right at all. Boges just off idle, and it won't idle for crap, and surges and nearly dies with no input from throttle. ...

Timing not quite right...

The pulser plate needs to be fully rotated to the rear of its adjustment to be close to the correct setting and running well. The timing mark is pointing in between the 'F' and the 'S' near the 1.4 on a warm engine. It's almost as if I were able to turn the pulsed plate further, it would run even sm...

Re: Timing not quite right...

That was a helpful thread. Only took 10 minutes to get the advancer off, a few oil drops, work it in and reinstall. Seems to have had a very small snag at the very start of the advancer action, but pretty smooth otherwise. After lubrication it was even smoother from rest to full advance. This howeve...

Timing not quite right...

So I have been riding an 80 CB650 that I had done a bit of engine and carb work and it's running well. Have gone about 7000 miles and have never got this one thing figured out. I'm having timing issues. I never really set up the timing dynamically, just statically. Here is my issue. When I was tryin...

Acceleration issue

I went through with MiGosts recommendation with regards to blocking the hole just above the air off diaphragms. It went well, I didn't have to split the rack, though had to take the main plate holding the rack together. Long story short is, I thought I have a good running nick with he tooth pick tri...

Re: Neutral Light

Did some searching all over the interwebs. Is it the small plug looking thing plugged into the harness just under the tank on the none clutch side of the frame, just behind the coil on that side?

I'll go test it when I get a chance. :)

Re: Neutral Light

I'm pretty handy with a soldering iron. I just have no idea where I need to put them, or where the silicone rectifier is. Where are they?

Thanks for the help so far. :D

Neutral Light

Along these lines, I took apart the small cam that is screwed onto the shaft that makes contact with the neutral safety switch. Cleaned all the contacts, yet still can't get the neutral light to come on when in neutral. The funny thing is, nthe neutral light comes on every time I pull the clutch lev...
