Re: 1981 CB650C Cafe Racer Project
What did you do to "straighten" the first 6-8" of the seat tubing? It angles all the way from the gas tank downwards, but it only looks like you replaced the rear section. Did you bend the front part of the frame up so it was level, then welded on the new tubing? I made a shallow cut...

Re: Day one CB650c
... I soon discovered EVERYONE is doing this. Bad news: I won't be the only one. Good news: lots of great resources like this forum. While not "everyone" is going the cafe route with their project, you have to realize that just about every bike has been given just about every treatment; t...

Re: my 1981 cb650 custom project
It looks like there were other repairs on the opposite side of the tank. If you're not going to weld in patches, I suggest just getting a used tank for cheap.

Re: 81 CB650C Electric Conversion
I always thought an electric conversion on a motorcycle with a sidecar would work out great. You could likely even still carry a passenger if you carefully fit the batteries in the sidecar.

Re: my 1981 cb650 custom project
Big ugly blinker are always the first thing I strip from a bike. Since you're already heading in the right direction with different bars and a 4-1, why not get some reasonly sized aftermarket blinkers? A set of 4 can be picked up for under $20 on ebay. Might as well pick up some pod filters while yo...

Re: 1981 CB650C Cafe Racer Project
I have been away from this project for a while. I had been working on my Midget and bought and sold a couple vehicles since my last post. I haven't done a whole lot since but here's some shots of what I did accomplish: -Ground down the handlebar mounts as well as took a little off the lower part of ...

Just use the image code link they provide. Pictures will come out like this: http://i1249.photobucket.com/albums/hh503/ZZrp5600/IMG_4691.jpg I quickly came to realize that will all the posting I do on various forums, ebay and craigslist that my free photobucket account was exceeding it's limit withi...

Re: '79 cb650
It looks good. Once I get it running I think I will got with them since my current tires are pretty trashed right now. How about that triangle plate on that bike? how did you make that? I'm assuming you're talking about the number plate on the XS400 I posted in my 650 build? It's just sheet metal w...

Re: My new project... Now with resized images
Ah yes, much more manageable now. Still too large for my netbook but I think I'll survive. ;0) What's your plan with the harley pipes? I've used them on projects in the past and I even run one on my MG Midget. A mellow sound on whatever they go on; nothing offensive.

As much as I'm interested in seeing your progress, it's too much trouble with these gigantic photos you've posted. I'll come by when they're resized.

Re: 1981 CB650C Cafe Racer Project
Dumb question, but that number plate did you just cut it out of some sheet tin? How did it mount up? It looks great! It's just sheet metal as you suspected. It is sort of wedged between the tank and rearsets and stayed in place perfectly. If I do another build where I need to keep the sidecovers, I...

I'm running the spitfires on my project. I only have the rear tire mounted right now but at least you could see what it looks like on a comstar.

Re: 1981 CB650C Cafe Racer Project
I bought another project car a couple weeks ago so progress has been slow going. I did manage to: -Mount the regulator and Igniters under the seat pan. -Officially mounted the seat to the pan. I'm using hockey pucks as spacers and lock bolts going through the seat, through each puck and through the ...
