Re: '82 cb650sc project

Thanks for commenting Skiwatcher, I was beginning to think this forum was only frequented by volker, sweety, and bots! I also wondered if the readership was mostly into factory correct restorations, because nobody comments on this one. I welcome comments both for and against, it's all part of the a...

Re: Turn Signal - aftermarket replacements

The striped wires are for the running lights, orange for left and blue for right. Those would need to be capped off, if you do not plan on using them, and the solid orange and solid blue would go to the positive on your new signals, and the ground of the signals to the chassis ground. Also, with LED...

Re: Turn Signal - aftermarket replacements

The front turn signals were a 2 element bulb, one for running lights, the other for turn signal. The ground connection for the bulbs was from the chassis through the housing.

I found the 750 tree I have, but it is from a 750F, not a C or SC. 37mm forks, ignition mount the same, but the gauge mount spacing is different, so it still wont work correctly to keep original gauges.

Re: 1980 CB650 Custom

I have the original shop manual along with the promotional brochure and was looking through the spec's this morning. Interesting that of all the spec's listed it doesn't state the horsepower. Does anyone know what the actual hp is? I have only seen information listed on a couple of websites. http:/...

Re: Electrical issues...help!

I forgot to mention, but none of the CB650s I have had (2 '80 standards, '80 custom, '81 custom, and '82 standard) have the harness extender to the ignition switch. Maybe it was added to your bikes for a fairing or radio at some point?

Re: Electrical issues...help!

I apologize, I was incorrect. The grounded nuts are used on the standard model, and the custom model the headlight bucket is grounded through a female spade connector on the harness to a male spade connector on in the headlight bucket (rusted off in my picture below because I haven't restored this b...

Re: Electrical issues...help!

Your picture is too small for me to see, but you should have two greens, a brown, and a black left over after everything is plugged in. It looks like you have an extra green. Another thread suggested that the green ground wire should attach to one of the bolts mounting the bucket. This is how 2 of ...

Re: More Mystery Extra Parts

It goes under the bike, near the swingarm, and connects to the bottom of the airbox. I don't remember exactly where it bolts to, but that might help figure it out. I'll try to look at mine later, if nobody can give a better answer first. http://www.servicehondapsn.com/fiche_section_detail.asp?sectio...

Common problem as well. Some have re-filled them with JB weld. If they are still working, no need to replace.
