Is it my imagination.... (gear shift content)

Was the shifter for the 79 CB650 designed for someone with size 5 shoes?

With the thing tucked in behind the alternator cover, it is virtually impossible to get a clean with my size 11 boots.

Anyone have a great alternative.

Mirror thread pitch?

Does anyone know off hand what the thread pitch is for the 10mm mirror threads. 1.0, 1.25 or ????

My master cylinder is stripped out and I want to install a Helicoil to fix the problem.

Thanks,
Gary

Re: carb help

I bought my rebuild kits (79 650) from

http://www.siriusconinc.com/search_result.php?make=1&model=CB650&part=1&partno=&search=search&x=29&y=14

They have
Rebuild Kits
Accelerator pump
Air Cutoff valves.

Nice folks and fast delivery.

Still puttering at it.

Bike passed emissions and is legally registered. Just for the hell of it, I put on historic plates, she is 32 :).

Working on cover decals at this point....

Re: My 79 is up and running (well almost)

The saga continues on my 79. Neither speedo or tach were working correctly, ignition switch iffy at best. Finally had some time on Saturday and did a little more work on the CB650. 1. Tachometer would not drop below 2000 rpm (engine off). Removed and tore it apart based on the instructions found at ...

Re: My 79 is up and running (well almost)

Don't count on the petcock filter screen. It is too coarse for the stuff that can plug your jets. If you did not get the tank really clean, install an additional fine enough inline filter. That's what I have, too. Thanks for the pictures. Good progress but still some work to do. Rear sprocket looks...

Re: My 79 is up and running (well almost)

That's good news. :D BTW, always a risk to clean carbs before the tank. I'd propose no running experiments with that tank until it is clean for sure. I suppose you already found out about the fun that comes with pulling/mounting the carbs. Yeah, I spent a couple of hours cleaning the tank out. Was ...

Re: My 79 is up and running (well almost)

Well got the caliper fixed. Stuck and gummed up. 100psi worked well. Took forever to get the air out of the system. Ended up using a turkey baster to force brake fluid in from the caliper bleed. Took a quick spin, never tach or speedo are working quite right. Speedo stuck at about 15mph.... Same wit...
