I have just gone thru this on my bike. The bearings are also colour coded.you should if you look real careful see paint on the edge of the bearing.Bearings are available from David Silver Honda in the UK ,or CMSNL in Holland, both stock a good selection.
Good luck

Re: single carb conversion
Saw a picture not so long ago of a 650 with twin carbs, looked real neat.a guy referred to as CX man had a hand in it.
Other than that the few companies that advertise the twin carb solution for honda 4's focus mainly on the 750,but if you find out any more info please pass it on.

Re: Electrical Problem?
I had a similar problem not so long ago with the starter button.Years of crud was preventing contact when you pressed the button, sometimes would work but more often than not would not.We disassembled the switch and cleaned the contacts, fiddly and annoying but hey presto it did the job.Just remember ...

Carb sync issues??
My 1980 cb650c is fitted with Keihin ve62a carbs. Is it possible to sync them using vacuum gauges as there does not appear to be any vacuum take off.The carbs have until now been "balanced by ear and feel".The bike generally pulls really well, but under load ie uphill it bogs down,5-6000rpm...
