Re: Engine Swap ideas?
Gotcha, forks are definitely on my list, the seals are blown and the tubes are pitted, so there's no saving them.

Re: Project 100mpg
yeah reduced pressure on a fluid will allow it to evaporate easier and with less drag on the engine as a result of a vacuum will make it more efficient and generate more power so MPG's increase as well.

Re: Project 100mpg
But one thing about these engines is that they're much different than what you see on the road. We run a turbo with a required air restricter and ethanol fuel. The internals are stock though.

Re: Project 100mpg
We top out at 12.5, the percent power improvement is unknown but it is more for reducing C.G. height. All the rules for our engine is on the formula SAE website. you can google search it. The dry sump pan is 3/4 of an inch which is quite a bit thinner than the stock f4i pan. and we can also locate t...

Re: Project 100mpg
Some formula SAE teams do this with their engines, what we do with ours is a dry sump on an F4i, the pumps induces a vacuum and pull the oil out but your right with the oil foaming, which necessitates the need for a swirl pot with baffling to aerate the oil. Thats kind of the basic idea behind it, I...

Re: Engine Swap ideas?
I see, if I did do it, it was most definitely for a uniqueness factor. If I did go that far. But I see what you're saying about the suspension. Do you have any suggestions about particular brands for aftermarket rear shocks and progressive springs?

Engine Swap ideas?
I'm kinda toying around with doing an engine swap with my bike, I was kinda thinking of using the honda hornet since it's carbed and makes decent power. I think the mounting holes will be somewhat close so fabin some mounts wont be to hard. I was just wondering if anyone had any ideas?

Re: Project 100mpg
I don't if someone already posted about this, but what was mentioned above about drawing a vacuum in the crankcase improving power is because it reduces drag resulting from oil in the crankcase. The less the drag, the less power losses from inefficiencies. If it was already posted about, sorry for b...

Re: Starting help
Alright thanks I'll take a look at that, I've also had an inline filter for the gas since I got it so I know it's getting clean fuel at least.

Re: Starting help
Also, When I look at the plugs after turning the engine over a bunch, there seems like there is no fuel on the plugs.

Starting help
Ok so I've got a 79 cb650, and I'm having trouble starting it all of a sudden, I have done the HEI ignition upgrade with stock coils, but I'm pretty sure it's not electrical cause I can get it to turn over a few times with starting fluid. I have thouroughly cleaned the carbs twice now and the pilot ...

choke help!!!
Hey so I have a 79 cb650 and the choke cable mount on the carbuerators sheared off. It's the little black plastic piece that's necessary to work the choke. Does anyone know where I could find that without buying a whole new set of carbs?

Re: GM HEI: Cheap and Extremely Effective Ignition Upgrade
Hey i'm new to the forum, but I tried the upgrade with stock coils and I had a helluva strong spark resulting from it. Unfortunately as soon as I wired it up last night, my choke cable broke, so now it's back to mechancial.
