Re: Right gasket set but different head gasket.

I can put things back together and have parts left over. I'm just being more efficient!

Re: Right gasket set but different head gasket.

Now why do you reckon they make the base gasket but not the head gasket? If you take the engine down far enough to get to the base gasket, you're gonna need a new head gasket. Here's one. It say there is only one available, so hurry: https://www.cmsnl.com/products/gasket-cylnhead_12251426306/#.WjByD...

Re: Right gasket set but different head gasket.

Have you tried your local Honda dealer (or this link)? They seem to be still available new.

Re: any opinions on these different carburetor rebuild kits?

I rebuild carbs as a hobby, so I buy o-rings in bulk from Marcos Rubber, and stainless steel hex bolts from Bolt Depot.

Re: Coil Relay Mod on 83 650

Its' just a little trick to improve your spark by a couple of percentage points. When the power has to travel though the entire wiring harness to get to the coils, you lose as much as a full volt. By going directly from the battery, you get full battery power each time.

Re: any opinions on these different carburetor rebuild kits?

I have no experience with either of these rebuild kits. I have used Sumo brand brake pads and they seemed to perform as they should. Odd that they should say that it is compatible with the CB650 AND the CB650SC Nighthawk since the Nighthawk had a 118 main jet and the CB650 had a 120.

Re: Coil Relay Mod on 83 650

There's no need to cut the black and white wire at all. Simply unplug it from the coils and plug it right into the 86 terminal on the relay. I do not understand what you are asking in this sentence: So the signal is coming from the igniter, 86, and 87 goes to the wire that then splits to the coils y...

Re: Coil Relay Mod on 83 650

I did not look at all the details, but the rough drawing in your link does not take either the kill switch or the ignition switch out of the equation. The only difference is they work to operate the relay, which THEN provides power to the coils. I do a coil relay on nearly all the bikes I rebuild. I...
