Re: 2 cylinders running weak - thoughts?
Also the bike only has 7k miles on it so I can't imagine it's valve seals or cam chain, but anything is possible. I'll pick up a compression tester.

Re: 2 cylinders running weak - thoughts?
Hey Again So I took the carbs off, spent two days cleaning them, they were pretty clean actually, just a little gunky in some crevices. Didn't replace anything, just thorough cleaning and put everything back together. Put them back on the bike and it runs weaker than before. A little bit of hesitati...

2 cylinders running weak - thoughts?
Hey Guys, Happy Thanksgiving! I've been working on my 81 Custom and getting it tuned up as I can. The engine runs great, starts up first turn, pulls hard through the RPMs, idles right at 1050. But always trying to get it better...so this AM: - Checked plugs - 1, 2, 4 all the same: fine, light brown....

Re: Brake Light Switch or Master Cylinder?
Interesting. Looks like the new MC is 100% bolt on. And I assume it'll help boost stopping power as well, not just all for looks?
Thanks for the quick replies!

Brake Light Switch or Master Cylinder?
So I installed superbike bars on my 81 Custom over the weekend, and it's like a new bike. I absolutely love the way it handles and rides. Problem is, (well the first I need to address), is that when I was taking apart the controls, one of the blades one the brake light switch broke off. I tried to s...

Re: Replacing fork seals on a 1981 650C
Has anyone updated the air assist forks to be mechanic with progressive springs? I'm thinking about doing this and eliminating the worry about the air.

Cool...I like. Would you say it wouldn't fit over the stock turn signals? I see you moved yours up to the bars.

Very nice dude! I'm putting superbike bars on my 81 custom in the next few weeks and am excited about the results. My worry is less about hitting the tank, and more about rerouting the cables. Any tips? Or did you replace the cables? Thanks.

Re: Repainted 81 Custom
I never sand inbetween coats. Some people may, i'm not sure either way, but I never do. I've always been taught that you spray your coats close together so they bond to each other rather than spraying coats over dry surface. like coat....wait 20 minutes....coat...wait 20 minutes...etc. Same for clea...

Re: BRAIDED STAINLESS BRAKE HOSES??
Did you end up getting the slingshot SS cables? I want to order them too but am not sure what all I need to order. Do you need to get new banjos too or can you just reuse the ones on the bike? Has anyone used these?
Thanks
Thanks

Re: Has anyone taken their CB650 to the drag strip?
This is really interesting. Coming from a background in jamming 60's V8's up the gears it's great to hear some old school tricks for bikes. So the engine stumbles for a second when you hit the kill switch is that the idea? Then when you let go it just fires again and keeps on running? Doesn't it bac...

Re: how do i torque the lock nut when adjusting valve cleara
Seriously make sure they're tight though! I didn't tighten one of mine enough once and the adjuster screw and nut worked their way out of the tappet and fell into the little space next to the valve spring. Pain in the ASS Now I adjust the valve as tight as I can get it with the deep well socket held...
