Re: New owner of a 1980 cb650 custom
Ok, Thank you both for the advice. I plan on trying to solve this in the next couple days or so. I hope that I do not have to tear apart the carbs...I will try to clean the float pin and the drain srew with the carbs still on the bike. Is that possible? Also I will pop the cover and inspect the cam ...

Re: New owner of a 1980 cb650 custom
Hello, Ok so I pretty much got done with my resurrection project. I did almost every thing to this bike except for cracking open the engine and rebuild everything. Here is a list of what was done: -body work on tank -body work on side covers -painted tank and side covers (Synergy Green, 2011 chevy c...

Re: fuel tank issue
Hey guys, my petcock is pretty nasty...what should I use to clean it? (CLR, Diesle, ??) If I use CLR can I just plop the whole pet cock in a bowl of CLR and let it sit? Also if I just have a light flash rust inside my tank will normal gasoline clean that up once I fill the tank? Thanks for your advi...

FS: 1981 CB650C Fuel Tank and Petcock...will also fit 80'
Hello, I have the following items for sale: This came off a running, 1981 Honda CB650C Custom. The fuel tank has one small dent which can easily be filled with bondo and primed/painted. The tank has been sanded down and is ready for body work. There is no rust in the tank at all. The tank also comes...

Re: 1981 CB650C Cafe Racer Project
A plastidipped fender sounds very interesting. How much did you have to use? I had thought about coating my paintable pieces in spray on liner as I like the low gloss, texture and durability. The plastidip seems like it would be just as, if not more, durable but smooth. Post pics when you get a cha...

Re: Rerouteing Cables / added clubman bars
I have installed clubmans on my 80 cb650c. true, that the cables for the cb650 standard are shorter...however I too was frustrated with a so called "15 minute" mod. All said and done, I did exactly what Paragon describes. I took my cables up above the headlight and then down through the cl...

Re: got my '81 custom today
Hello, I have a 1980 (same tank as 81') cb650 custom tank that I am willing to part with. It is rust free and comes with the petcock. Only problem is a medium sized dent on the front/bottom right of the tank. I am guessing if you are handy at body work you can fix it or take it to a body shop and ha...

Re: 1981 CB650C Cafe Racer Project
VII, sounds good...that is kinda what I was thinking (either cut the support back a little or use black tank trim (the fender is going to get painted black). I will let you know how it turns out. Thanks for the advice, your project is looking good by the way! I know what you're talking about but I d...

Re: 1981 CB650C Cafe Racer Project
Hello, I am getting ready to cut my rear fender (chrome) and install a lucas style taillight. It seems that the rear fender is two peices of metal that are stacked together. The top piece (chrome) around the lip of the rear fender is rolled over to give a finished look. So, When I cut the fender wha...

Hello,
Anyone know where I can find the little cable holder that clips into the front fender and holds the speedometer cable? My cb650 (80') is missing this piece. Thanks for your help.

Re: Tank Swap Ideas
Ok great! So the small difference in fuel line size wont matter? I already have an inline filter so I am guessing that when I use the 81' petcock the fuel line from the petcock to the inline filter will be a bit larger than stock. Are you sure that this will not effect the performance of the bike? I...
