it boarder line of overheating. with the nighthawk tank it puts the fuel petcok right over the valve cover on the left side. i noticed it was hot, really hot when i got home the other night and turned the fuel off and burned the hell out of my finger.

the only things i use when adjusting my valves is a 5mm allen wrench, a 10mm wrench, a standard head screwdriver, and angled feeler gauges. i don't think any of those things would be considered special tools

wish my tank held that much. i can only old 2 gallons(tank is from a 450nighthawk) i've always figured about the hose holding about half of my tank. so when i pull up i look for the pump where the last guy got premium, i always buy regular

welcome. i'm sure you've already noticed there's a ton of good information here about these old bikes. fuel: in mine i typicaly run just regular unleaded(the cheap stuff) in my 1980 custom and it does fine, once in a while i'll run some sea foam through, or some good fuel system cleaner. i'm sure on...
