Re: 1980 CB650c finished product.

Just the stock 1980 Cb650C rear shocks. Might look funny in the last photo because I have my plate zip tied to the shock cover.

Re: 1980 CB650c finished product.

Thanks guys. I have a front fender and I'm working on a design for a shorty back fender. But for now I just want to put some hours on it while the weather is good. I'm still getting some very fine rust in the float bowls still getting past the inline filter before the carbs, so looks like I will hav...

Re: 1980 CB650c finished product.

Thanks Folsom, yes I have tried swapping out the o-ring with a few different sizes....still seems to leak. Probably will just end up buying a new generic master cylinder with the brake light switch. Hawk: Thank you. I made the seat from UHMW plastic material by heating it up with a torch and curving...

1980 CB650c finished product.

It's been a long time in the works, but besides a few minor kinks to work out here his my finished 1980 CB650c restored from the frame up. I'm thinking I will still need to go up to 118 or 120 on the main jets from 115. I'm around 2000ft above sea level so I thought the 115's would do the trick. Nee...

Re: Another starter clutch thread.

So with all the new parts in hand from Honda ($32.00 CAD) last night I got started on the starter clutch job. 1 of the 3 torx head bolts was almost completely worked out and the other 2 bolts were loose. One of the caps and springs were stuck inside the hole due to a broken spring. The rest of the p...

Re: This the way?

That lower sub-frame bracket on the bottom right hand side unbolts from the main part of the frame to remove the motor. I can see in the picture you still have a few bolts to remove. The bike does not have to be on its side, or laying down to remove the motor.

Re: Not another starter clutch thread!!!

Thanks. Yes, the chain tensioner is in the proper "notch" thanks to this forum. When I put the top end back together I made sure of that thing was installed correctly. For some reason in the video it sounds pretty noisy, but standing next to the bike it is actually pretty quiet. Guess I wi...

Another starter clutch thread

Hi guys, been a while since I have posted even though I visit the site almost daily. After a few years I am pretty much finished my 1980 CB650c build and would like to put insurance on it and enjoy all my hard work this summer. Just a few kinks to work out yet. The bike does not like to start cold, ...

4-1 Exhaust Question

Does anyone know if a 4-1 exhaust from a 1983 cb650 would fit a 1980 model? Thanks in advance for any input.

Degrees cast into rocker arms?

Hey Guys, just had a question in regards to the rocker arms. Taking the head cover apart for cleaning I noticed the rocker arms have a 32° or 33° cast into them. I'm pretty sure I recorded correctly where everything was, but this is what I have them labeled as. Does this just have something to do wi...

Re: Tach Cable problem….

Haha you guys are going to be quite the fashionable bike riders! 8) I thought maybe you guys were going to cut up the handbags and make designer seat covers. Volker, as for the tach cable I heated it up and still could not get it out of the housing. I actually pulled so hard that I ripped the...

Re: 81 CB650, Where will it go from here?

Jorgen, good idea! It's not too late for me yet. I think I will keep the bracket on the frame, and keep the stand sitting around the shop just to quickly put on for working on the bike. Cheers!

You guys have any good ideas for degreasing the frame and the swing arm?
