Re: 1982 CB650SC Nighthawk for sale in CT

thanks, it IS a bummer! Its also annoying to get the motivation to fix/replace a bunch of things just for the sake of a sale! A combination of no one to ride with(stupid friends having kids and selling their bikes!) and moving to a part of the state where its mostly highway access where my work comm...

Re: 82 Nighthawk hondaline Luggage Rack Install

agreed, it is pretty ugly and looks a bit "home made." Maybe i'll add a little foam to protect the frame finish.

Re: 82 Nighthawk hondaline Luggage Rack Install

In hindsight the mounting seems really obvious but shipping the u bolts on the wrong bracket really threw me off.

Re: 82 Nighthawk hondaline Luggage Rack Install

Well after downloading every single nighthawk luggage rack and backrest photo I could find I finally came across this: http://i802.photobucket.com/albums/yy310/cmouta/CB650SC/1982-honda-nighthawk-650-project-bike-1_zpseqewiode.jpg http://i802.photobucket.com/albums/yy310/cmouta/CB650SC/1982-honda-ni...

WTB various toolkit pieces

Shot in the dark but looking to see if anyone has a few of the missing pieces of my oem toolkit. -Shock adjusting spanner wrench(anyone know of an aftermarket that fits?) -screw driver plastic handle 24mm closed end wrench, the one that slips into the slim handle extender. I think its part of the to...

Re: Cylinder Head Temps

I haven't done a full rebuild but I've done the oil pan seal and cleaned the pan and the oil pickup in the process. Since then, my oil has come out pretty immaculate but I also ride less than 800 miles a year, if that. It's not the worst idea to do one of those engine treatment cleaners before switc...

Re: Cylinder Head Temps

Its illegal but I guess if your bike is ABOUT to break down there's an argument to be had! Even the "cagers" around me were asking me what the heck I was doing sitting in traffic like them  I've looked into oil coolers and spin on filter adapters and all that. I would hope that a bike...

Re: Cylinder Head Temps

Thanks for the replies! I had one incident a few years ago as a fairly new rider(and although a competent shadtree mechanic, a novice to motorcycles/carbs/tuning) where I was stuck in stop and go traffic on a highway in the summer for about 20-30 minutes and the bike started overheating to the point...

Cylinder Head Temps

Has anyone ever run a cylinder head temp gauge? The ones that go around the spark plugs? My bike has run reasonably well since I've tuned it up a few years ago, check plugs all the time, nice and gray, snappy throttle, 1100rpm idle, needs a couple of miles of choke before warmed up enough. Installed...

Re: 1982 CB650SC - My First Bike!

when i did my cam cover seal last year, I ended up stripping out the threads of the last bolt in the assembly(even with a small torque wrench!) and its been weeping oil ever since. I didn't like the idea of drilling/tapping/helicoiling in place without removing the cover and came across this on sohc...

82 Nighthawk hondaline Luggage Rack Install

Hey guys, wondering if anyone had any info on this hondaline luggage rack i bought 3-4 years ago that i never bothered even taking out of its UPS shipping box until now. I remember it being listed on ebay as being model correct but it doesn't seem to mount like any rack I'm able to search for. Any i...
