Re: My CB650

Both the Vespa and the CB650 look great. More pics of both would be nice. These inline 4 cylinders are cold blooded IMO. I have a SOHC CB650 and a DOHC CB900..... and I think the 900 is even more cold blooded than the 650. Fouling the plugs could be caused by too much fuel..... choke is only intende...

Re: Saw this on ebay

It's up to 1100 bucks now and there is still time left. WOW the folks pay good for these, my 700 dollar bike keeps getting better! I had a sales guy at the Harley dealership tell me he knew someone that converted bikes like this (and mine, and yours, for that matter) to cafe racers and such, and he...

Re: Changing the Gear Shift Oil Seal.

Got the new one and managed to get it changed. It was not as easy as yours was tho. I tried your removal method but it didn't want to come out that way. I got it out with a rubber mallet, screw driver and needle nose v-grips. New one needed to be persuaded to go in, had some PVC pipe to slide over t...

Re: 1981 CB650C Fuel Tank or......???

Found an 80 tank and matching side covers that I hope are in good condition. That will get the second one up and running (even looking better).

Thanks for info.....

Re: 81 CB650C.....

If the vacuum shutoff is operating as it should, and it's just a hose leaking, I would recommend you just replace the hose. Hoses get dried out and leaks occur, and are easily replaced. If the vacuum shutoff is leaking.... then it might be easier to just bypass than fix. But it does serve a function...

Re: Not sure of the direction!

I like those wheels..... and the tires look nice too.

I seriously don't see a "stock restore" so.... Bob it, your own style to fit your comfort needs. Do you have a tank or anything else to go along with it?

Re: Changing the Gear Shift Oil Seal.

Thanks for the video! Never seen that it can be that clean beneath this cover. I wouldn't rely on my fingers only but use a socket or a tube for pressing it in. I cheated. Before I knew what was leaking, I took the cover off and cleaned under there. That's the only way I could tell for...

Re: 81 CB650C.....

After much reading last night, and knowing that the spark plugs indicated a rich condition (black soot) I removed the cover for the air cleaner and held the filter in place with fender washers. I took it for a ride..... WOW, ran like a raped ape. I went back home and put the cover back on, just in c...

Re: 81 CB650C.....

A lot of searching and reading...... and although I found out the T's are vents, some say are important and some don't, it makes one ponder why the one without the vent T's runs great and the one with does not? I also found out that it could very well be a fuel issue, an air issue or even an electri...

Re: 81 CB650C.....

Whoa..... looking at both bikes (carbs)... they appear to be the same but the newer one has an additional vacuum line Teed off the one above and appears to go down between nr1 and 2 carb on the rear side. The other one appears to have just the one line as indicated above. Were there different config...

Re: 81 CB650C.....

Have to study this a bit.... do I need plug or caps? Besides shutting off fuel at the vacuum shut off (based on engine vacuum), what problems could this be introducing into the system to cause my stumbling issue? For testing purposes.... could I just take the fuel line from the petcock to the center...

Do tell.... can you elaborate? I checked plugs, they were a little sooty and I cleaned em. Timing is on (static test).... have to get a new timing light to check dynamic and also spark advance.
