1981 CB650 Parting out
I was suppose to finish this bike for a client but after tearing it apart and starting the engine rebuild process, he decided he didn't have the funds and said I could have the bike. I already have enough motorcycles so I'm going to part it out. I'm located in Minnesota if anyone local needs parts. ...

Re: Compression test results
Thanks Ghost for posting that. I pretty much knew all that but I was nice to get a second a opinion and help others in the future. To update, I have since torn down the engine. I believe its valves from what I can tell. When I ran the test originally bare in mind it was on an engine I believe was si...

Broken cylinder fin ideas
So I broke a cylinder fin on a cb650 I'm working on. Not my first cb650 I've done and yet I got impatient. right side of the head was stuck so I was using a small pry bar with a rag rapped around it and slowly pryed on it. Well I of course hit a soft spot and I broke small piece of the cylinder fin ...

Re: My 1981 CB 650 C build
Sick! Very well done! Not the normal look, I like it! The controls on it look awesome! I have questions: How does it ride? Is that some sort of gold paint? Anodized? What did the front forks come off of? What did the rear shocks come off of? What modified air intake did you use? Who makes those red ...

Fuel sending unit idea
Probably not the first and certainly not the last but I bought a digital gauge to replace my factory analog tach and speedo. Its nice and has all sorts of features but one I would really like to use is the fuel gauge. So I figured I could grab a used fuel sending unit from a honda Shadow or CBR mayb...

Re: Compression test results
CV. 1980 and below had the mechanical.
I ran the test with out the carbs or exhaust attached. Shouldn't have caused an issue.

Re: 1981 cb 650 c running on 1 and 4 only
Im with Mainerider on this one. Other thought. If you have spark like you said and want to make sure everything in the motor is running right spray some carb cleaner in the carb boots with the carbs off. Only in cylinders 2-3. If it fires you have your answer. I would bet damn good money on the carbs.

Re: extended cables
550 parts should be pretty much the same. Its a standard cable you should be able to find extensions pretty easily.

I have both sets of carbs here myself and both are apart. Doesn't look like they will fit.

Re: headers
More then likely no. I have a set of cb750 carbs from an 81 and they wont fit a 81 cb650. Cylinders are spaced out more. More then likely cb750 headers will be too fair apart to fit a cb650 motor. Not sure I would waste my time attempting it.
