No you don't have to remove the motor, I covered all parts that I did not want black with newspaper and masking tape. I only removed the petrol tank and side panels before spray.

Re: 1979 CB650z - going to change this into a Cafe Racer
So last Saturday was perfect weather for a ride, so I joined some guys I know and went for a ride. Bike performed & handled beautifully on the mountain pass. Here's a shot a friend took of me. http://25.media.tumblr.com/26b4adcec018ecc28eab770d9e122655/tumblr_mp21doeKcn1rbhpb6o1_1280.jpg

Re: Pod filters
I've head a story about the air density, but that is all past the exhaust valve stage, in my mind I think the air less dense hot air will travel much more freely through the exhaust system and as far as I know that will help with increase HP at high revs. Honestly I don't think it will make such a d...

Re: 1979 CB650z - going to change this into a Cafe Racer
Ok bike is now 99.9% complete. Fitted the xenon light last night and I can honestly say that it makes a huge difference. The only problem I had was to take the petrol tank off and fit the unit under it. in the middle in the frame above where the timing chain cover goes. Hopefully the heat won't be t...

Re: 1979 CB650z - going to change this into a Cafe Racer
I had to give my engine a thin second coat yesterday, so I had no time to install the xenon kit. I will post photos & comments when I have that done tonight...hopefully. Regarding the engine coating, No,it's normal engine spray in a can. Hopefully this cheaper way will not come and bite me on th...

It is actually my old passenger foot-pegs off my 200cc Chinese import motard.
I wanted something a bit more modern, but still oldschool.

Re: Is there a supplier in USA or AU that ship parts to SA?
Thanks so much Usbear for getting back to me regarding this, I was begining to think that I'll never find parts in USA. I will have to speak to my machanic and let him know that I can indeed get parts from US. In SA we are still very delayd when it comes to vintage parts, I wish some motorcycle comp...

I tried E Bay and Amazon, but for some reason USA don't ship to SA.
It's such a mission to get cheap parts here?

Re: Cafe Racer Seat - work in progress
Yes, I will be replacing the side covers with something else, but keep the standard airbox and battery in that position. The guys here in SA suggest I stay away from the pod filters, we have wet winters and the wind is always blowing in Cape Town :( I was thinking of making a small compartment under...
