Re: Ready for Spring
the bike is original except for tires and master brake cylinder. The tank paint is in real good shape. The clear coat peeled off the side cover decals, but that appears to be a frequent problem with the 1979 CB650.

I am not much of a mechanic, but could your clutch problem be that the clutch cable needs adjustment?

Re: 1979 CB650 tail light
Thanks for the input. Here is a question I have: If the brown wire associated with the tail light when the bike is running has power coming out of the ignition switch but a break at some later point, could I just splice that wire with the other brown wire? The other brown wire lights the tail light ...

1979 CB650 tail light
Hi Everyone, You helped me get my bike on the road two years ago. The 1979 CB650 has been dependable until this weekend. The tail light does not light up during normal driving. It lights up with the brake, but does not stay on while driving. When I put the ignition key into park, the light goes on a...

Re: 1979 CB650 Headlight
Thanks for the advice everyone. I had some time today and installed the H4. It fit right in and cost $42. The hardest part was pushing all the wires out of the way. It is snowing here in Pennsylvania so I do not have a chance to check out the new light vs the old one. Will let you know what I think....

1979 CB650 Headlight
Hi Everyone, My headlight low beam burnt out. I have a choice of replacing the headlight with an original closed beam Honda headlight or install a halogen H4 headlight. I would like to keep the bike original, but I do ride it back and forth to work and would like more light. How much brighter is the...

Changing fork oil
Hi,
I am planning to change the fork oil on my 1979 CB650 for the first time. The question I have is what happens to the springs when I remove the 17mm bold on top? Will the spring pop out the top? ...any advice?
Also, what oil do you recommend
Thanks,
Saber

Re: Spark Plugs
Thanks MY79650 and Volker, I think I will go with the lower numbered plugs. My #1 cylinder seems to be firing now and then and the plug seems to be dark with a gas smell. It stays cold long after the other cylinders heat up ( touching pipes ), but when I return from my ride to work of 9 miles, the p...
