Just wanted to let you know I've found the problem : it was me!
looked again tonight, and the brake lever do hold it closed while the break is not pressed in. So everything is ok and this is the right part number !

The speedo is mounted in a predrilled headlight housing from Carpy . I had to glass the housing slightly to make the speedo fit nicely.
