Re: Very high idle speed when hot

Thanks for the replies and pointers. Due to a business trip I haven't had any time to spend with the bike but I will soon; I'll post what I ultimately find!

Very high idle speed when hot

Hi all, An upfront thanks for any advice you can give me. This is my first bike and I'm a bit of a noob. I have an '82 Nighthawk 650. Here's my problem - it has existed since I bought the bike several months ago. When cold the idle speed is relatively normal - somewhere around 1000 according to the ...

HID Headlight Kit - Ballast, Projector, 6000k HID Bulb

--- Unit is sold. I've left the post below. Hi all, When I did my HID headlight conversion, I got a car kit on sale with two headlights, two ballasts and two projectors. I'm putting the 2nd set up for sale here, if anyone is interested: http://www.ebay.com/itm/290969824778?item=290969824778 The ball...

Re: HID Xenon Headlight Installed

I think it's just a poor cell phone camera that's making it look blue. It's almost pure white.

The light is awesome. I have a small halo of light focused down in the ground in front of the bike, and then it is throwing a lot of light further down the road and to the sides that is a bit more ambient.

HID Xenon Headlight Installed

I just thought people might be interested in the HID light I put in last night. Quite an easy and inexpensive upgrade; I would highly recommend it.

My blog about it is here:

Re: CB650 running tail lights & LED Lights help?

I think all years had running lights as the tail light and separate turn signals that did not have running lights. Regarding wiring and whether you need the run-turn-brake controller, it really depends on what you are trying to replace. From the description of the Honda controller on that website: W...

Re: Stuck & Rounded Oil Filter Bolt

Thanks for all of the tips, everyone. I ordered the housing and bolt off of eBay for $18 USD and got it yesterday. You were all correct. Once I ground off the head of my existing bolt to the point where I could chisel off the housing, I found the bolt was only hand tight in the engine. All of the se...

Re: Stuck & Rounded Oil Filter Bolt

Just an FYI... I had a private email with one other person in this forum and he gave me a great reply (below). I might have the confidence to take the grinder to it now, but my plan is to stop by my favorite local classic bike mechanic and get one more opinion. I'll post anything I learn in this pro...

Stuck & Rounded Oil Filter Bolt

Hi all - first post after purchasing a 1982 Nighthawk CB650SC. It's my first motorcycle; I'm an "average" car mechanic and have a bit of aptitude with engines, though. In doing all of the routine maintenance, I discovered a completely rounded off oil filter bolt. (Number 8 in this picture:...
