Re: Motogadget m-unit
Hey CanCB650, i am thinking about fitting a M-unit to, maybe even the new m.unit blue. It would be very interesting to see if somebody here did it before! Cheers L. I was thinking the same thing! From what I've seen around the web it seems pretty plug and play but I'm skeptical that its editing mag...

Motogadget m-unit
Hey community, As the winter maintenance/project season is almost upon us I am contemplating changing out my old jumbled rats nest of a wiring loom for something a little more slick and less bulky. I was wondering if anyone has had any experience installing Motogadgets M-unit and if so, would you re...

Re: Fixing the infamous 'right above the exhaust' leak
Hey Chris, which reason to still care for CB650 engine leaks? :D One should mention again that the seal itself is in the engine casing behind the sprocket cover. I once had oil there from the oil pump cover (also behind sprocket cover). Then it comes out below the three fins of the sprocket cover. ...

Re: Carb flooding #2
I'm no expert on carbs and jetting, but here's what I know from a little experience and what others have written on various forums. If you have a cracked carb boot, you'd be running lean, not rich. Basically a crack there makes it way to easy to suck air in vs. fuel, and you'd be lean. If you're ru...

Carb flooding #2
Hey, I don't have much experience with carb boot problems, but I think I may be experiencing some... I'll do my best to explain the issue, so please bare with me. The jetting is stock on my bike. I had no choice but to put pod filters on the bike as the original airbox did not come with the bike. I'...

Re: Clutch safety switch
I took a look under there and the connections there appeared to be clean and not corroded. I'm thinking something was bypassed at some point avoid the clutch safety switch. I'm terrible with electrical issues and having trouble tracing it back to where that would be. The way those switches work is ...

Re: Clutch safety switch
the neutral switch and oil press switch are both under the left side cover. Sounds like there might be a issue there or a pinched wire. I took a look under there and the connections there appeared to be clean and not corroded. I'm thinking something was bypassed at some point avoid the clutch safet...

Clutch safety switch
Hi guys, I'm having trouble with my clutch safety switch.. I need to get this issue sorted out to pass the safety inspection. Currently, when the bike it turned on the neutral light stays on permanently and the bike is able to be started without having the clutch pulled in. So I gather that somethin...

Re: Tank paint restoration
Nobody's getting back to you, so I'll share what I know and let everybody else tell me how wrong I was. :D :D :D Remove the tank from the bike and drain all the gas you can. If you don't get it all, just be aware that there is some in there, and be careful when you roll the tank around. Clean the t...

Tank paint restoration
Hey All, I've got a 79 CB650 with the original paint on the tank. Over the years some of the paint has gotten added, scuffed, cracked, etc etc everything else you would expect with a bike of this age.. I really like the character of the paint and patina that has developed over time and would like to...

Re: Turn Signal - aftermarket replacements
The striped wires are for the running lights, orange for left and blue for right. Those would need to be capped off, if you do not plan on using them, and the solid orange and solid blue would go to the positive on your new signals, and the ground of the signals to the chassis ground. Also, with LE...

Re: Turn Signal - aftermarket replacements
The front turn signals were a 2 element bulb, one for running lights, the other for turn signal. The ground connection for the bulbs was from the chassis through the housing. Here is a color wiring diagram: http://www.oregonmotorcycleparts.com/files/CB650_79_.jpg Right I see. The replacement signal...

Re: Turn Signal - aftermarket replacements
Hey, I think you may have been right about the wires being crossed. So I replaced the original flasher relay with the Audew 2-pin flasher relay (https://www.amazon.ca/AUDEW-Motorcycle-Adjustable-Indicator-Flasher/dp/B011O49RHC), then corrected the wiring. When I use the Audew flasher relay none of m...
