Right Hand Switch

I have been racking my brain for the past 2 days trying to figure out how to wire an aftermarket Emgo right hand switch to replace the OEM unit ('82 CB650SC), any advice would be greatly appreciated. What I've come up with is: OEM Wire to New Switch Wire: Start Button - Blue/White to Blue - switched...

Re: High idle help

As an update, I made the following changes which by and large resolved the issues. It seems that the high idle was due to a vacuum leak which was fixed with new carb boots. Check that off the list. I corrected the problems with the butterflies by re-aligning the carbs. Problem fixed. I had it runnin...

You need a longer MC hollow bolt for that that can clip two line connectors one above another.

thanks!

Dual Disc Brake 3-way Joint/Bridge

My brake bridge/3-way joint is leaking. I'm ordering new SS brake lines, and would like to know if I could eliminate the bridge altogether and run both lines directly to the MC. Thanks all.

Re: How to Wire a Replacement Starter Solenoid

Reviving an old thread, this was a life saver for me as I replaced the original solenoid with aftermarket from 4into1. How did you figure out the aftermarket starter solenoid wiring? I wiring diagram was not provided with the unit I purchased, this was the only how-to I found anywhere. Without it, I...

Re: High idle help

I removed the carbs while waiting for the new boots to arrive, found that the butterfly plates are all gaped differently when closed as you can see from the pics. #4 is completely closed, #1 & #3 have about a 1/32" gap while #2 has over a 1/16" gap. Also, the throttle mechanism sticks ...

Re: High idle help

Thanks for that. I want to do a thorough check when I pull the carbs off, I'll add that to the list.

Re: High idle help

I ordered new carb boots, which I suspect is the problem. I'll check to ensure the slide is working properly when I remove the carbs, and the choke connection. I also found a video on bench testing slide lift with a bit of compressed air.

High idle help

I got my bike started, 1982 cb650sc, but its idling at 4200 rpm. I couldn't find anything in the manual, or online related to idle adjustment for CV carbs. Here are the changes made since removing the carbs. complete carb cleaning and rebuild replaced vacuum-assisted petcock with a regular petcock c...

Getting ready for first start

All I have left is to bleed the front brakes, then first start. I swapped tanks from stock, the fuel line has a very slight up hill. I hoping this isn't any issue :? since its only about a 4" run from the petcock to the carbs (see pic below). Here's my first start procedure pieced together from...

Getting back on the road - small parts question

I'm finally in the home stretch of getting my 1982 CB650SC back on the road. I'm missing the following parts, and they appear to be unavailable online. Can anyone provide a recommendation for a source, or alternate/cross-referenced part number? Clutch cable adjustment bolt - BOLT, CABLE ADJ. 5319242...

Re: New Indicator Lights

Well, I have it sorted based on a response from the SOHC4 forum. As I guessed, and it was a guess, the */red circuit wires from the switches act as ground. Attached is an image of the new gauge cluster. I also moved the ignition switch held in place with a set screw. Also filled in the fork air assi...

New Indicator Lights

I'm working through the wiring on my 1982 CB650SC adding new gauges and indicator lights. The new indicator lights (2 wire) are wired red/+ and black/- ground. I'd like to add these to the 9 pin OEM connector in the same locations as the OEM wires. The OEM wires are as follows: light green/red - neu...
