Rotor Brush Wiring

I got a new stator and brushes and I of course forgot to check which wire was connected to which brush. There is the white and black wires going to the inner and outer slip ring brushes, does anyone know which wire is connected to which brush? I am worried about frying my R/R.

Re: '81 cb650 has fuel + spark, turns over but no start

I have pd carbs and idk if the cv are any better with cold starting, but mine has a hard time starting with no choke from sitting for a while, even when its 80+ degrees out like it has been the past few days. It fires up no problem with the choke in and after a few minutes of running it will run fin...

Re: Shifter Peg Oil Seal

awesome, thanks for the link, thats exactly what I wanted. It looked like you drained your oil before hand, is that right? Do you have any idea of how much oil is behind there? working in the parking lot of my apartment it is a bit of a pain to do an oil change and I have done 2 already in the past ...

Shifter Peg Oil Seal

I have a 1980 CB650C that has a leak that appears to be coming from the shifter peg oil seal and following down the peg and dripping onto the exhaust. When it sits over night I seem to have about a half dollar size soil spot, if not larger. I am wondering if I have found the correct seal (#24 on thi...

Re: Dunlop or not to Dunlop

I honestly dont know. With the type of riding I do (not stupid driving) I doubt that getting matched tires isnt a huge deal for control, one might have more grip than the other, but unless your banking at 50 degrees at 60 mph I think you would be fine. Wear wise, I think thats more on how you load t...

Re: Dunlop or not to Dunlop

I just got new tires for mine not too long ago when I got the bike. I bought kenda challengers I think. Like most of the new tires they are not in the old style with car style treads, but they grip the road well and don't seem to have any problems. They might not look the part, but fairly cheap if y...

Re: 1980 cb650 bobber for sale(parting out)

Are those all the parts to it or is there more? Im mainly interested in the R/R if you have a working one as well as exhaust. Also alternator cover if the bike has the original engine that you are trying to get rid of.

Re: Stator AC Voltage

Awesome, thank for the link. The rotor output does decrease a decent amount when it gets hot. it is at around 13vac when producing 14.5vdc, and that drops down to 10vac with 12.5vdc. I have not checked the ac voltage of the stator when it gets even worse than that, but I imagine its below 8vac. I di...

Re: Rotor resistance

Most places I have seen online say 4.5-5ohms, but I think you are right and that my rotor is not the issue.

Re: Stator AC Voltage

Across the battery I get up to 14.5v dc but that will decrease down to 12v or even less when it gets hot. I get about a max of 13v ac from the stator when cold (and still producing 14v dc across the battery) and i believe it was 10 while hot, I was wondering if this was normal as I see most places o...

Re: Exhaust, pods and Jetting question on my 79.

I have heard that pods on a CV is a lot more forgiving than on the PDs and that you will have a hard time trying to get it running good even with rejetting. I am also interested in a new exhaust, haven't dug too deep into it though. I was thinking of sticking a 4 to 2 from a 79 or 80 non custom. I t...

Re: Stator AC Voltage

That's what I was thinking. I'm not so good with electrical stuff, but since this is read with the R/R plugged in, can the R/R affect this value? Basically since I am reading 13vac at 5k rpm, does that mean without a doubt I have an issue with my stator, or could a bad R/R affect that.
