Re: Petcock is being a cock

<--- stupid monkey

Think you just saved me $99,50 tario. Brand new hose, never crossed my mind that it was leaking at the hose, and just dripping down the petcock.

"My" petcock is leaking in the RES and ON position, but not in OFF... whats up with that? Is it that big round seal with the holes in it thats f'ed?

Do I really have to fork up a hundered bucks for a new petcock?

Re: CB650Z racer

Lovely looking bike, what exhaust you running? I'm a sucker for a set up like that, its all about the symmetry of twin cans also what did you use to detail the engine letters? Thanks man. Exhaust is stock up to where they angle upwards. Cut and welded on the upsweep. Cans are from Cone Engineering....

Re: CB650Z racer

Changed the seals yesterday... getting good at doing this, both calipers redone in 20 minutes... leak free now, but need to get the rubber seals/bushings for the slider bolts.. Also got around to making the new seat today, laying down some fiberglass. Should be done in a few days completing this pro...

Re: CB650Z racer

Thanks. And yeah, stock tank. Blasted and powder coated. I've done a few miles and it so much fun to ride with the rear lifted (and front lowered), feels like a true racer. New rear shocks a bit stiff, but I'll live with that over the squishy stock ones. Shouldn't have reused the caliper seals, they...

Re: CB650Z racer

Thanks man. The levers are Chinese-$40-ones from ebay I picked up for another project. Decent quality for the price.

CB650Z racer

Got the 650Z on the road this weekend. Great fun to ride. Now on to the 750k1 build.

Still some minor things to do, racing stripes on the tank and a different seat cover. Will also get some proper pics taken when it's all finished up.

Leaking calipers

Finished up my 650Z last night, or so I thought... Both calipers are seeping quite alot of fluid. Cant really tell where its coming from, but I'm guessing the seals. I did not replace the seals (quite expensive piece of kit) as they looked alright. I'm ordering new seals ASAP though. Are the seals &...

Missing circlip and return spring

Hello, assembling my rebuilt 650Z, and I have a couple of bozo questions. Can't really find the answer to these in the manuals or parts fiches I have. Is the gear change lever only held in place with a circlip? Pic 1. Does anyone have a good pic or illustration of the brake pedal return spring and h...

Re: Can you suggest any new rear shocks?

I just installed a 14.5in shock and converted the swingarm to accept eye-eye shocks. I moved the mount a bit forward on the swingarm as well to raise the tail further. Be aware though, this is going to decrease the rake angle and make the front more unstable. Have not done a test ride yet, but if ne...

Re: Putting an early 70s CB750 tank on my '81 650

Happy to help. The aft portion of the 750 tank is now resting on the tube, and leaves a gap (between the tank mount and the frame mount), so either you have to widen the tank to drop down to the frame, or space up the aft mount.. I would consider the latter as I like the way it's almost perfectly ho...
