Wow- it’s been a while. Hi all, Anyone know if I can run VB carbs on a 79 cb650 engine? Is there any difference in the 1979-1982 cb650 engines?
Any insight is appreciated! Thanks

Re: Cylinder header 3 and 4 not hot/firing?
Thanks, I appreciate any kind of advice I can get! I ended up swapping the 1&4 coil out with a spare I had laying around and I also cut back the plug wires(the connections looked bad), i'm now getting good spark on 1&4. I don't think the coil was bad, just the plug wires but I replaced it be...

Cylinder header 3 and 4 not hot/firing?

Re: starting Issues
when you set the timing, which index mark did you use? It should be set at the 1-4 F S mark, if it's right then you might want to check the valve clearance. Honestly, I found it impossible to install the cylinder head cover without backing off the tappets on the rocker arms, you might just need a va...

Re: Battery drops to 0 volts when ignition key turned to ON
Thanks man. I've decided to replace the wiring harness, i've wanted to for a while now. Also, the battery was under warranty, and "bikemaster" was cool about sending a replacement for free, so I just went ahead and did that. I think it's a combination of a shorted wire and weak battery, we...

Re: Battery drops to 0 volts when ignition key turned to ON
Thank you for the reply. I did try my old lead battery but got the same results, which makes me think it's a short. I'm confused why a lithium battery doesn't work with these charging systems, it's still a 12v battery but with advantages. I run lithium ion batteries in all my bikes and have never ha...

Battery drops to 0 volts when ignition key turned to ON
Hey Guys, I've got a brand new Lithium battery on my 81 cb650 and when I turn the key to ON the battery voltage drops to 0 from 13.5. The battery has been working great and the bike starts everytime, I also replaced my charging system about 2 months ago, along with the battery. I know some will say ...

Re: High idle without choke!
Yea, it's a bit high but 1.5k after fully warm is okay for now. I still have a lot of fine tuning to do . Thanks for all the feedback guys!

Re: High idle without choke!
I feel dumb. The knob was way off. I got it adjusted and idling at 1.5k rpm. My brain is fried, been working on this bike all day, I always miss the simple things. Thank you sir

High idle without choke!
Hello, I just did a valve adjustment, cleaned/rebuilt my carbs, static timing check.. and now my bike is idling at 4K rpm without the choke. Any ideas why this is? I adjusted the pilot screws by 1/2 turns, in/out but the idle did not change, currently the mixtures screws are back to 2 1/4 turns out....

Re: When I try to start my bike, I just get a single click
As I mentioned, it's not recommended to use a piece of copper wire but if you're just trying to get the Bike started for a short time then I don't see an issue. That's all a fuse is, wire. I'm pretty sure the wire would melt through before the bike caught fire.. I'm talking about a small piece

Thanks for the help and instruction! I'm still waiting on my clutch gasket from the UK... I'll be getting into the clutch inspection once I get that gasket.
