Bike starts and immediately revs to 5000rpm

After I had my carbs cleaned and rebuilt, and after I reassembled the entire air/fuel intake assembly onto my bike, it starts, with no choke needed, and revs up to 5000rpm all by itself. I have checked the idle screw, it is turned out and not in contact with the throttle, and the float bowl levels w...

Re: where to find replacment throttle butterfly?

As in another butterfly by itself? I have looked and haven't seen a way to order them individually or in a set of four. Do you know how to get one?

where to find replacment throttle butterfly?

Upon reassembly of my carbs off of an 81 CB650c I accidentally jammed the throttle butterfly for the no. 2 carb in the body of the carb. The retrieval process left the aluminum throttle butterfly quite mangled, although the interior of the carb looks fine an unscarred. I haven't been able to isolate...

Re: Lack of Power in higher gears

Another thing im noticing, which seems counterintuitive at first, is that the bike seems to rev out easier before it warms up. In other words it have the least amount of problems on a cold start. Weird, but does this make any sense?

Re: Lack of Power in higher gears

wow that's a comprehensive carb manual. thanks a bunch! I will give that a go next week as I'm sure the bike needs it regardless if it fixes the problem or not.

Re: Lack of Power in higher gears

I'm sure the carbs could use one. Do I have to worry about resetting/re-synching anything after I have removed and cleaned them? The manual I have is not very descriptive. I will check on the voltage later today, thanks for the suggestion!

Lack of Power in higher gears

Hello everyone, its great to get on the forum and I am excited to get more involved in the CB650 community! I bought a 1981 CB650C back in December and since that time have experienced a noticeable lack of power going into 3rd, 4rth, and 5th gear under acceleration. At first I thought there was a pr...
