Re: 1982 Nighthawk CB650sc Starting troubles

Hi Bater, I'm having a similar kind of problem but mine is starting on 1,2 and 3 but number 4's plug is dry. Fuel is getting to the carb but it doesn't seem to be getting to the cylinder. It will run on 3 cylinders but peters out after a very short time, I'm suspecting that the fuel tap may be block...

No spark on number 4. *FIXED*

I've replaced the plugs, HT leads and caps but number 4 will not spark. Any ideas?

Brand new plug was a dud! :x

Re: Right gasket set but different head gasket.

Hi tario, nobody was more surprised than I was that the gasket in the kit was different to the one on the bike. Check out the differences in these two links, the first one isn't the actual item I bought as that was only shown inside the packet, this listing is for the identical set though. http://ww...

Re: Odd problem

I do recall reading on the net (not sure if it was on this site) that a guy had a starting issue and he couldn't find anything wrong with his valves when he took the covers off but the bike just wouldn't start. It turned out that he had forgotten to put the cup shaped washers underneath his valve co...

Re: Odd problem

Hi Nic, is it all of the carbs or just one? If it is blowing when it should be sucking I would suspect inlet valves being open at the wrong time but you say you have set them. I would remove the valve covers just to see if there is anything obvious like a sticking tappet.

Re: Float bowl Needle Valves

Hi Hamman, do the floats move freely on the pins? Have you checked the float heights? I can't really see how all 8 needle valves you have tried won't allow fuel through at the same time, yet the fuel floods out with the bowls off. Any chance that there is polish residue inside the brass tubes where ...

Re: Float bowl Needle Valves

Hi Hamman, a couple of questions if you don't mind. Are the carbs on the bike? Have you tried inserting thefloat needles into the brass tubes to check how easy they slide? it would probably be better to try it without the floats attached. I cannot see any single reason why 8 float needles (if I read...

Re: Right gasket set but different head gasket.

I have found the correct gasket (I hope). It should be part number 12251-426-306 just in case anyone else has the same problem. I have no idea why the head gasket from the NE set is different to the one on the bike. With my bike being imported to the UK from the US, surely a different head gasket wo...

Right gasket set but different head gasket.

Title of ebay listing for gasket set "Complete Gasket Set Full Honda CB650 CA-SC Custom S.O.H.C. 1980-1984" The trouble is the head gasket is different to the one on my bike. The one on the bike has a separate tin framed rubber gasket that goes around the camchain tunnel but the one in the...

Re: How to fit camchain tensioner in the slot?

Thanks CB, I've run a wire brush over the threads, nice and clean, plus air blow off gun to the oil feeds and everywhere else where crud can hide, just about ready to start rebuilding, but! One of the cam cover bolts has been snapped off a long time ago and a PO has had (by the looks of it) a pair o...

Re: How to fit camchain tensioner in the slot?

so you have had to do two of the best projects on the 650 Yup! but I'm stuck into probably the worst one at the moment..................removing old gaskets  I'm using the rounded end of a 12 inch steel ruler held at 45 degrees and STP Carb Cleaner. Also a Scotchbright pad where there appears...
