Re: Smoke and Odor

Hi JB and welcome to the forum and the World of Two Wheeled Nutjobs  How long was the bike stood for? Did you do anything to the engine other than have the carbs cleaned? Have you checked for a bit of freeplay in both of your throttle cables and your choke cable? doesn't need to be a lot. If yo...

Re: CB650 Spark Splug Problem PLZ HELP

Hi WT, can you put your mixture screws back to what they were before you did the extra 1/8 turn then take the bike for a run and check the plugs again?

Re: New to the forum

I had to turn my laptop upside down to see it properly  Surely that bike is way too nice to Cafe? But then that's just me, I love them in stock condition as CB650's aren't so common in the UK, especially not in such good condition :)

Re: Spare Change Project First Bike

DT, did I read that correctly, you are losing your sight? If that is the case then I feel bad for you, you seem to have a positive attitude to your situation and you get my respect. I have some spare tires but you will have to collect them

Re: Throttle butterflies dont retract?

I'd say that plug looks lean but you have to account for differences with pc screens and lighting. Better to be slightly rich than too lean.

Re: Throttle butterflies dont retract?

That's good news WT, did you just change the filter back or did you try to run her with the filter cover off?

Re: Forks

Hi Michael, I haven't done anything with my Nighthawk air assisted forks but I checked out my workshop manual. There isn't much info on them but this is what I've got from the Troubleshooting page, Soft Suspension, 1, Weak Fork Springs. 2, Insufficient Fluid In Forks. 3, Low Air Pressure. In the spe...

Re: Throttle butterflies dont retract?

It really does sound to me that you may have an air leak at the boots or your exhaust. Have you tried running it without the filter cover on to see if it makes a difference.

Re: Throttle butterflies dont retract?

Have you checked your carb boots for leaks by spraying easy start around them when the engine is running? I admit this doesn't sound very likely as your problem sounds like it is running rich, I'm thinking about why the revs would rise when the choke is off. How does the bike rev when you give it so...

Re: Throttle butterflies dont retract?

Did you put the original jets back in the carbs? The idle should lower when the choke is switched off. I remember reading on the interwebby about some guys having bikes that ran too rich and the solution seemed to be to run the bike with the air filter cover removed, the air filter was secured by th...

Re: Throttle butterflies dont retract?

Stock is Best! 8) but I think we may be in a minority :D I just wish that these bikes were more common in the UK as finding reasonably priced spares here is a real problem

Re: Throttle butterflies dont retract?

Wow! 8) I thought mine was shiny! http://www.hondacb650.com/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=14452 That is very nice, have you got any before pics? As far as I'm aware the 3 little holes in the carb throat are air passages, I know that one goes to the air cut off valve but I'm not sure of the other two witho...
