CB650C clutch cover leak
Hello everyone, it is good to be back! I moved from Tennessee to Florida, so have been out of touch a couple years! Nice to be back though! Anyway, I kept the Honda, and now have a question concerning a repair I did in Tennessee, that of a clutch case cover (right side of the engine, the right wall ...

Re: regulator/rectifier failure (again)
OK, so there must then be a way to determine if there are two dead legs on this circuit before the regulator, correct? In other words, if the stator is in fact bad, I want to replace it. If it is NOT the stator, the regulator alone should be replaced. But I don't want to replace the regulator only t...

Re: regulator/rectifier failure (again)
hmmm.. I need to go over the Clymer again. I stopped probing after the yellow/green connection test because it failed on two yellow wires. The test seemed pretty clearly stated, but maybe I misread it in the text...??

Re: regulator/rectifier failure (again)
Volker_p, now, when I tested the yellows the other day, I put one lead on the first yellow, second lead on green, and looked for Ohms. Then went to second yellow and left other probe on green, then the third yellow and the green. After that, I reversed the leads and did the same thing. Is this what ...

Re: regulator/rectifier failure (again)
OK, Thanks, VolkerP. I will see what is going on with the stator. I may actually have a bad stator, I suppose. I assumed it was the regulator because the Clymer book listed that as the first test, and then said if any of the about 6 tests failed, the regulator was bad. It did not even mention the st...

Re: Easy way to remove and reinstall large springs
FolsomL, you both have excellent tricks here (I do like yours better for creativity, however!).
I just must know, though, why is there tape on your pliers? LOL!

Re: Piston Question
You aren't going to need an oversize piston unless you hone the cylinder to a larger diameter. In cars, you rarely do that unless there is significant scoring on the cylinder walls that would preclude ability of a piston ring to seal the combustion chamber, the chamber is significantly out of round ...

regulator/rectifier failure (again)
Hi folks. I seem to have killed my first regulator/rectifier on a motorcycle (as in, the first one I personally mounted, the original one was fried shortly after I got the bike). I noticed there is a sticky thread on replacing it with a Dodge regulator and diode trio set, but is there another ...

Re: Need Gearing Advice
MiGhost, you were smack on. She rides like a different bike entirely. I have to pay attention very carefully, or she runs about 15 mph faster than she sounds like she should be, in 4th gear she is going like she is in fifth at the same rpm. It is like getting a 6th gear. Nice! No loss of low end tha...

Re: Need Gearing Advice
ok, new chain is on. Swing-arm was a pita, but it is on as well. No spare parts and bike is road-test ready. I checked the rivets I installed, just to be sure, and BikeBandit did a correct job of counting links (unless we both screwed up, which I doubt because I counted em twice yesterday). Note to ...

Chicken soup from chicken poop...
I reset the shocks while I was at it and had the bike up on stand, hoping to soften the ride a bit. The rear sprocket is on, the front one is on, and in the morning, I am putting the chain on (tons of rain last several days...). Wish me luck! As far as stretch goes, should I expect there to be a sli...

Re: Need Gearing Advice
The electric impact did the trick, the swingarm locknut came off after a few seconds of hammering. Ok, now I have to count and verify the links I guess. Then I can actually just slip the old chain out and lift the new one in, then assemble the sprockets (I hope) with chain in place on them. The fron...

Re: Need Gearing Advice
OK, o-ring chain and 2 sprockets arrived. 17/38. Interestingly, there was a 17 on the bike already as it turned out. Back was not a 38. Not sure precisely what it was yet, still clearing grease off it.. pretty grubby.. Regardless, I have this wonderful bullet swaging press, and thought I would make ...

still waiting on my goodies from BikeBandit
They were out of the O-ring chain I ordered, but supposedly shipped them Monday. I can't wait!! :P When installing the chain, do I have to make it up before I put it on, or place that pin AFTER installation? I have never changed a motorcycle chain, but have done a few bicycle ones, and the links on ...
