Re: 1982 CB650SC carb cleaning

Those tubes are vents. Where you see the holes should actually be T fittings with a hoses coming off of them. Those hoses go over the top of the airbox. They do not connect to anything. You should replace them, as the carbs may leak if you do not. I think I found the tee fitting part number (160474...

After market brake light wiring

I'm looking to replace the stock light with an aftermarket 3 wire unit(Yellow - Ground, Black - Running Light, Red - Brake Light) with a 12V 23/8W dual filament bulb. The stock unit has 2 wires plus a spade connection, how does the replacement relate to the stock light pictured?

Stator/Brush Wiring Harness

I found another suprise from the previous owner, seems that he rewired the stator/brush connector and did a poor job of it. Since the connector and terminals are in bad shape, I plan to buy the parts and rewire. There are 5 wires total, 3 yellow and one each black and white. I haven't chased the wir...

Re: Carb cleaning manual

Can anyone tell me if the pictures below are part #16038-422-004 SCREW SET D? I see that the part is obsolete, and I'm missing one of the 4 screws? The overall length is approximately .8mm and the head diameter is approximately .7mm. How can I determine the size screw and type of thread, I'd like to...

Seems pricey for what should be a $3 part, but at least they are available.

Re: 1982 CB650SC carb cleaning

Does anyone know the part number, it was difficult to tell from the diagram. I think it might be 16031469004 fuel joint set.

1982 CB650SC carb cleaning

I noticed when cleaning the carbs there are tubes between carbs 1 & 2, and 3 & 4 visible from the choke plate side that have holes in the middle (see pics). I can't figure out what this tubes/parts are on the part diagram, can anyone shed some light? Is this normal or do these have to be rep...

Ignition Switch

I'll be adding clip-on bars to my '82 CB650SC and would like to re-purpose the handlebar holes in the top bridge for the ignition switch. Can anyone recommend a good replacement for the stock 5 pin unit (part #4015820) that might fit. I'd like to reuse the stock unit (combination switch and lock) by...

Re: Carb cleaning manual

Can anyone confirm if the fastener sizes listed on p. 6 of the manual apply to a 1982 CB650SC? From the manual, these are the recommended replacements:  Qty 8 3mm x .5 x 6mm socket button-head screws (for the choke plates)  Qty 12 4mm x .7 x 16mm socket-head screws (bowl screws)  Qty 11 4mm x .7 ...

Re: New restoration

I am rely looking forward to the project, and hope to pull the motor in the next few days. Mechanically, the bike is fine, but I will rebuild the motor next winter. My goal is to finish all of the other mechanical, body, and paint work so that I can get some enjoyment this reading season. Volker, ca...

Re: New restoration

Thanks for the links. The only other time I did any electrical work was splicing a proprietary Dodge harness for a Durango I once owned. I didn't know the connectors were standard items, I'm going to go over the entire harness with a fine tooth comb. What gauge/type wire should be used for repairs? ...
