Re: 82 CB 650 Carbs jet size

according to Daves Ultimate guide to 79-82 Honda CB650's http://www.myhonda650.com/ , the bikes that came with 44C carbs were 82 SC Nighthawks, which have a #118 main jet. VB44A carbs from 81/82 650/C's used #120. This is also confirmed on http://www.motorcycleproject.com/motorcycle/text/specs.html ...

Re: 82 650SC (re)Build thread

Good point, its torquing halfway down the bolt, that is a lot of bolt left above to put stress on. Thank God they still stock, these.

Re: 82 650SC (re)Build thread

I need a smaller torque wrench with a more obvious click : new vs old, lots of bushing missing on that one

Re: 1982 650 Nighthawk tool kit

does anyone have a pic of it mounted? I was looking at that spot and looking at my honda toolbag and i can't imagine how it would fit in there.

Re: Can't get 82 650SC to idle

The plugs given to me from the honda dealership are resistance type NGK's. What negative effects will this have on my bike's operation, effectively giving me 10k ohm spark lines?

My 82 does that as well, also my friend's 2005 Vulcan did that yesterday. Are we just doing it wrong or something?

Re: Can't get 82 650SC to idle

New plugs did the trick! Rode around the block for about 10 minutes on my lunch break. Everything felt good! Only took it to about 40mph but that was good enough for me for now!

Re: My other baby: Merkur XR4Ti

haha sadly I know exactly what sign you're talking about. http://www.forestmushrooms.com/colin/temporary/marecoor.jpg they recently did a segment on Top Gear USA comparing failed cars with obviously silly tests. The XR4Ti, the Subaru SVX, and the Cadillac Allante. The XR4Ti coming out on top of cour...

Can't get 82 650SC to idle

Hey guys and gals. I'm starting to lose it with my newly acquired bike but I'm too stubborn to take it somewhere(and I doubt there are any locally knowledgeable sohc4 places in CT) and it doesn't seem like my generic build thread gets much traffic I can't get my bike to idle for the life of me. Alwa...

Re: 82 650SC (re)Build thread

Rode her for about 2 minutes today, and pushed for about 30 minutes uphill. Lesson learned. I was messing with the "fast idle" knob and got the bike to idle around 2k rpm with the choke on and not stall out. Unfortunately when I would attempt to remove the choke, the engine would take off....

My other baby: Merkur XR4Ti

Of course, before recently purchasing my '82 650, I was working on another non drivable project, my rear wheel drive, 2.3 four cylinder factory turbo 1988 Merkur(pronounced Mare Coor) XR4Ti, or as known everywhere else in the world the Ford Sierra. I bought her specifically for autocross since I was...
