If it snapped wouldn't I be able to pull it out from the top? It's pretty solidly held in there and I don't imagine the outer cable is pinching it somehow. Thanks

Speedo suddenly stopped working.

I only found wheel removal instructions in my Clymer manual. I also learnt from another thread from a guy with the same bike that my problem could be the gears at the wheel which I assume that is what my problem is but idk for sure or if there's a possible solution before taking things apart. But I ...

Re: Almost starts with accel pump but won't stick

Hey, np, I got it d so figured out. Carbs needed a decent cleaning. That's all. And yes I did the seals and lapped the valves on the head. Thanks!

Almost starts with accel pump but won't stick

WOT keeps it going a bit too but barely It had been sitting for months, like 6 before I finished replacing the cylinder head with a used one I cleaned up and just popped in. It was running fine before with pods. I just ruined a spark plug hole. I've got 120 +/- psi compression I've got spark and app...

So you are right.

Thank you!

Cam and crank shaft marks lined up but not cam sprocket punch marks.

Does it matter? I can't imagine how. I've got the "t 1-4" on the crank and the mark on the right side of the cam shaft lined up with the indent in the head there lined up together. I'm guessing the punch marks on the sprocket are just additional marks to help somehow but my sprocket I happ...

Re: How does the engine perform between rich vs lean?

K&N's usually shift mixture towards lean but your plugs look really all right. With air filters like that placed on positions shown in your pictures pressure conditions at your carbs might become strange, especially when you operate the throttle. Things may even depend on the positions of your ...

Need to fix a spark plug hole thread. Need correct specs

I don't know if there is a standard for motorcycles or something but I've gathered they're smaller than for car/truck plugs so I'm just trying to find the right general thread repair kit. I'm going for a heli-coil kit cuz their particular tool allows for lateral clearance for deep narrow circumstanc...

Re: How does the engine perform between rich vs lean?

What I notice most besides high rpms struggles, if it's not the same problem is this cooler(SWFL temps) starting stumbling /stalling upon rapid throttle action. Check out my plugs though 20190307_005431.jpg I thought they'd be darker but apparently I'm running lean. I checked these right after a col...

How does the engine perform between rich vs lean?

I have two situations where it struggles a bit, 1, before engine warms up, and 2, in particularly warmer, 70+ farenheit tempuratures, as I've noticed when it's colder I barely notice any performance issues... which come down to hesitations with higher rpms or rapid throttle action. If I turn the thr...

When to replace valve cover and adjustment cover gaskets

I've got leaks from mine which I partially remedied torqing down on them a bit beyond spec(probably not good) which helped a bit but not entirely. The gaskets aren't old at all but I've removed the covers a few times for hiding valves and other work so I'm wondering how quickly, or after how many re...

Re: Should I go up .001" on valve clearances as I've read in a couple threads here?

There is no need or reason to deviate from book specs unless you really know what you do. Special fuel or special cams might be a reason for things like that. If somebody should run into valve overheat problems with book specs, this is probably due to too lean. And this is most probably due to pod ...

How to fix a bent handle bar?

https://imgur.com/a/Jy88Ago I just noticed this recently and I'm guessing it was the result of one of the times I dropped my bike on its left side(obviously). I think it was one night just after parking it in my garage I was tired it just fell out of my control. I think I leaned too far to the right...

Should I go up .001" on valve clearances as I've read in a couple threads here?

What's the consensus on this? The info I read by some on sohc.net was a bit too technical for me so I didn't quite understand it but the claim is that it increases the life of your valves, particularly the exhaust ones, that otherwise within a few k miles your valves could fail I think I read. Since...
