Re: Hanging Throttle
Of course! Even if i don't get responses, I still like to post my results for the sake of others. That's what makes these forums work! I've still been trying to figure out why, mechanically, a lean condition causes an engine to hang up as I've read so many times, and why, running on 3/4ths of my cyl...

Re: Hanging Throttle
As it turns out, that isn't oil on the #1 spark plug. That is unburnt fuel because the spark plug boot on that cylinder broke somehow. The 5k resistor was fine, but the metal in the mold injected boot must be cracked and it reads open with regards to continuity. I must have rode about 100 miles like...

Hanging Throttle
Hey guys, I was hoping I could lay out my current scenario to get some ideas of where to look for problems. Here is the series of events that took place: Got bike running well last fall, cleaned out the rusty fuel tank, put an inline fuel filter, rebuilt VB44C stock carbs with all new keyster hardwa...

Re: Cam Cover Bolt Copper Sealing Washer Replacements
Grabbed one from Honda. Seems they are M6x11 crush washers. McMaster only carries M6x10 copper and aluminum crush washers(well, they carry others but not M6x11) Harbor Freight has a variety pack of uncoated copper crush washers in Standard sizes. Going to pop by Napa later and see what they have in ...

Cam Cover Bolt Copper Sealing Washer Replacements
Does anyone know if any local shop besides the dealer(almost 2 bucks a pop) carries generic 6mm copper washers for this application? Pep Boys or Napa? Is There anything else I need to know or can I just go "yeah, gimme a bunch of 6mm copper washers" OD? thickness? Just want to make sure I ...

Re: 1982 CB650SC - My First Bike!
had some nice weather in CT so I've been riding to work. As a result, here is an over processed photo I took from instagram :D Bike has been running really well aside from a slight fork seal leak, slight cam cover leak, and a fickle warm up. The weather is supposed to be crappy for a while so hopefu...

Re: New to motorcycles, and the forum
Welcome! I was in the same boat last year. familiar with autos, unfamiliar with motorcycles and I had also picked up an 82 650 nighthawk for cheap along with the Clymer manual. Carbs had sat for 10 years so I rebuilt them with Keyster KH-1078N at 35 bucks each x4. I wanted to replace as much possibl...

Jordan Engineering 82 CB650SC
Stumbled on these pics and didn't see them anywhere else on the forums so I figured I'd post them up. I believe they are highlights from a clymer manual, and also viewable on Clymer's facebook site. I'll certainly be going over these with a fine tooth comb to see what trick stuff Jordan Engineering ...

Re: '82 CB650SC front caliper rebuild kit
I never found an actual caliper rebuild "kit" for my SC 82 so I ended up having to get all the replaceable rubber individually from a local honda shop.

May be done with the caliper on the fork with no need to take apart the hydraulic stuff.
Don't mix them up, they are different!
The glider bolts are different?

1982 cb650sc vb44c pilot screw idle adjustment help
Posted this on sohc/4 but would be nice to have this info here as well I tried to dial in my mixture today following the clymer manual and I think I'm an idiot. Can I explain what I think the manual is telling me? It seems like I'm just riching the hell out of my engine and running it hot. Page 206 ...

Re: 82 650SC (re)Build thread
New breather cover bolts in, maiden voyage last night! did about 9 miles round trip. I'm still struggling to get a feel for when it's warmed up. Seemed to be idling fine, and I'd go to take off and it would die. Tried to ride with choke on and it ran very rough, i'd switch to no choke, it would die ...
