Re: 1981 CB650c Won't Start
Don't worry about bending any tabs. Your issue is definitely with those float needles. Also, the plastic floats you have are not adjustable. If you put the float needles side by side, are they the same size? If not, what is down in the needle seat that is keeping them from going all the way in? Spra...

Re: 1981 CB650c Won't Start
Did your kits include new float needles? If not, check the ones on the "floppy" floats and make sure the spring in the needle is springy. Also, try tapping on the float bowls with a screwdriver handle or something similar. Often this is all it takes to make them seat and stop leaking. The ...

Re: New Fork Seals - Did I just screw up my forks???
I've always slide-hammered them apart. Did you see the manual here in the General Discussion forum? On page 111, it talks about replacing the fork seals.

Re: Carburetor swap?
The CB750 and CB900 carbs function different internally. The CB650 carb have one main jet, while the larger engine carbs have primary and secondary main jets. The larger bikes also used DOHC engines, so I doubt the intakes would line up correctly (Note that I've never tried to see how they'd fit).

Re: Carburetor swap?
Cant say for sure. In 1983 the 650 Nighthawk switched to a double overhead cam engine. The cylinder heads are different, so the spacing may also be different.

Re: Carburetor swap?
Mostly that it will need to line up with the cylinder head. There may be some that will work, but the only one I know of is the Nighthawk.

Re: Carburetor swap?
Your bike has VB44A Carbs. The 81 and 82 CB650 and CB650C are the only bikes that used these carbs. The only others that I know would be compatible are the VB43C carbs from the 1982 Nighthawk 650.

Re: 1981 CB650c Won't Start
Have you checked out the carb cleaning manual here in the General Discussion forum? The carbs wont be exactly like your's, but the techniques are basically the same. Drop about a tablespoon of oil in each cylinder through the spark plug hole. If the compression improves, your problem it most likely ...

Forged in Fire--CB650
Does anyone here watch the show Forged in Fire? It is a blade smithing competition where people have just a few hours to forge knives in various scenarios. The knives are then tested for strength and durability by basically abusing them until they destroy something or the knife fails somehow. The pe...
