Re: Spare Change Project First Bike
Did you try tapping on the float with something like a heavy screwdriver handle? That's usually all it takes to get the needles to seat.
I've never heard of that causing a bike to stall. Usually it just leaks. Have you checked the charging system?

Re: Tachometer wont go below 2000 RPM suddenly
Are you saying that the actual tachometer itself won't do it, or the engine when running will not go below 2K? If it is the actual tachometer, try spraying just a touch of WD40 where the cable connects (take off the cable and spray into the tach body).

Re: Spare Change Project First Bike
Fix one problem and get another Welcome to the world of working on 30+ year old motorcycles! Be sure the leak it not coming from somewhere else and just dripping from the accelerator pump. That has fooled many of us at one time or another (ask me how I know). Did you replace the o-rings on the fuel...

Yeah, even when you get them running right, they just need CONSTANT maintenance.

Re: Cb750 ignition
I'm confused by the text of your question compared to the thread title. Are you asking if CB550 or CB750 parts will work? If CB550, I highly doubt it. The CB550 used a point system (like you mention in the text) but it is not remotely similar to the pulse generator system used by the CB650 (and the ...

Re: Mech quit on me.
My feeling has always been that you should never buy a 30+ year old vehicle if you do not intend to work on it yourself. If you pay someone else to do it, you will quickly spend more than you paid for the bike to start with.

Re: So would you use this to transport your 650?
That's pretty cool! I wonder if the winch is removable, and that's why the mount looks like it does. I actually have a winch that came from a camper that I rebuilt (and did not need the winch). The bed of my trailer is pretty high and my motorcycle is very heavy (Harley Electra Glide). I should rig ...

Re: So would you use this to transport your 650?
I'm always somewhat hesitant to use anything from Harbor Freight that will potentially take something important with it when it breaks. :( I had a Harbor Freight wheel chock on my trailer. It gave way one day as I was coming to a stop and let my CB900C roll forward and fall over. Fortunately, it onl...
