It’s hard to say if the other cylinders are kicking in after 2k from your video just a loud ticking sound can be heard.
Yes timing & compression test is probably a wise move. Remove the carbs first..
Yes the timing is set for all 4 cylinders.

Re: why would pipes #1 & 3 be cool?
Do you have spark on 1&3? Do you have the right HT leads going to the correct plugs?
On mine 1&4 are connected to the left hand coil 2&3 on the right coil. If you turn it over do the plugs 1&3 become wet?
Where a outs are you?

Re: why would pipes #1 & 3 be cool?
Does the engine run on 4 cyl when you rev it up?. If it only running on 2 cyl it should be very lumpy/ hard to rev? Do the pipes 1&3 only stay cold on idle?

Re: why would pipes #1 & 3 be cool?
If your confident the spark is ok then it will be carb issues. Does it stay cool only on idle? Do they warm up when at higher revs?
Is it standard air filter or pods etc ... I am no expert but I have learned a few things that were going on in my 650.

Engine advise please
Hi, So I did compression test on my cb650: Results were: 1: 140 psi 2: 90 3: 75 4 90 The story was this engine was rebuilt by a Yamaha tech.... so I have taken off the head and it’s now on the bench with the chambers filled with diesel to see if the valves are leaking. To be fair they don’t seem too...

Hi, I am after a little guidance, I have a cb650a/z (I think) which I am building but I don’t know what route the the main wiring loom takes from the battery compartment, under the fuel tank and out into the headlight bowl. Can anyone help clear this up?
Thanks

Re: My CB650
I am with you wanting to restore sensitively. But as you probably know cb650 are getting thin on the ground and people want big bucks. When I was a teenager the 400 four was the bike I wanted but couldn’t afford. I think this is in the same mould.

Re: My CB650
I quite like the brat style but the cafe seat. I didn't like the long brat seats. Also didn't want passengers .. I think this bike looks awesome http://www.bikeexif.com/honda-cb650 So was kinda leaning in this direction.

My CB650
Hi All, I have been lurking here for a few weeks so thought I would say "Hi" and let you see My CB650. So what I bought at the begining of September 2017 was a 4 boxes of parts and a frame with an engine on a crate. Here is what it was supposed to look like when it was last assembled. From...
