Re: Looking for a 4-1 header

I'm in Massachusetts, USA. I've made a purchase though, from Ripple Rock Racers in Canada, who makes a nice 4-2-1 system for this bike. It was pricey but it should be very good quality at least! That's good that you found one, I have got a 4 into 1 system but the postage to the US from the UK for s...

Re: Looking for a 4-1 header

The stock exhaust on my '81 Cb650C is rusted, and recently cracked all the way through. I was already thinking about putting on a 4-1 so now seems like a good time. However it seems that they don't exist any more, can't find them anywhere on the internet. If anyone has one lying around, let me know...

Re: Ranger's 1980 CB650C Scrambler build

Hi Ranger and welcome to the site. Well you certainly seem dedicated to your project, I'm not sure if I'd do anything with a CB650 before I got the motor sorted first but each to their own. I only say that because of the problems I've found with my own motor when I just wanted to change the valve st...

Re: Having trouble splitting the Crankcases on my 1979 CB650.

Hi Dan, I have only just seen this thread but I'm glad you sorted out your problem, I'm about to split the cases on one of my engines, well as soon as my wrist gets better, I seemed to have sprained it somehow. Due to a PO's bodged attempts at doing Helicoils in the head bolt thread holes he has man...

Re: 1980 CB650 vs CB650C engines

If your bike has PD slide carbs then you can replace them with another set of PD slide carbs but not the later CV carbs as the inlet spacing's are different.

Re: Clutch/stator puller

Hi, do you mean for removing the rotor on the left side of the engine? I've never needed one to remove a clutch. Have a look at this to see if its any help.

Re: New one

Hi Conrad and welcome, that's a fancy looking bike :D I'd just like to make you aware that this site is more geared towards SOHC CB650 bikes dating from around 1977-1982 but a 650 Honda is a 650 Honda. I personally know next to nothing about newer bikes.

Re: 1981 VB carbs on 1979 Engine?

Hi, the inlet's spacing is different for the PD and CV carbs, the later cylinder heads had the inlets slightly farther apart.

Re: 1981 CB650 Air cutoff valve

Most people bypassed them and put a normal gravity fed fuel tap on the bike as they were always causing problems. They were sometimes affectionately know as SOS valve aka Spawn Of Satan.

Re: Why does my light switch have 3 positions?

Hi JJ, if you want a switch to turn your lights off then look for a right hand switch gear from a UK Honda CB650, not too sure about European bikes but I know the UK bikes have a lights ON/OFF switch. You won't even have to touch the wiring as the UK switch plugs straight in to the US wiring in the ...

Totally remove the cable and pull the inner cable out to check that it hasn't snapped first.

Re: Almost starts with accel pump but won't stick

BTW, I wouldn't try running any motor without the pipes or airbox on but that's just me, engines are designed to work a certain way so that's what I do, then if something goes South I know (hope  ) its not something that I've done.

Re: Almost starts with accel pump but won't stick

Hi JJ, sorry for not replying sooner, its that time of year when there's so much other stuff happening. So you swapped your head with another one because you buggered up a plug thread, is that correct? Just swapped the whole head and changed nothing else? Did you check the valves in your "new&q...

Why do you need 82 carbs? weren't there any with the bike when you got it?
